ok, I have added a few generic shops recently because a lot of silent gear is becoming mainstream. Re: MSY. I buy all my base parts from here, and they are one of the few companies to stock HIS. When my HIS 9800 Pro (iceq) died (2 weeks out of warranty) they sent it back, and got me a brand new one....

Thanks wim. Updated.

ckolivas - Altech are a distributor. They are the Antec Distributor for Aus, pretty much every Antec item comes in through them. I don't think you can buy retail from them, but most of the other sites I have listed purchase some of their range from Altech. Chancellor Martok - I have added ARC to the...

Duck, that's a pretty broad statement.

I have 3 seagates in my system. The two old ones are virtually silent. The new one is noisy as all hell.

I have experienced similar problems with *ALL* brands. There is a broad range of product.

The Drive bay certainly has some electronics. They are Simple, but "appear" to be more than just straight power pass through, so I would suggest that the electronics handles the powerdown notification to the O/S prior to dropping thr power. I could always ask the amnufacturer if you want confirmatio...
