My previous psu was an Hiper 425 W (Type S 425W) , the 2 pins fan be removed/changed official site: http://www.hipergroup.com/products.php?lv=1&cate=1&language=eng It's a low-end psu but it was good enough, the fan was noisy but overall very stable current tensions. They have more high-end psu if yo...

I wrote about this fan controller in another thread, my feeling is that it's great, perfectible but does the job. As far i know most fan controller can't control the fan speed below 40% so they shut down the fan but maybe guys with more experience will say otherwise. There is a test here you can rea...

Thanks Kaydat. I like how you describe it as if it has no purpose / useless. The resistor makes a big difference between a noisy fan and a noiseless one in my experience. Take a fan of say 1500-2000 rpm (i tested one recently) real noisy. You first put a lna cable down the line and then a fan control...

Re: Different noise character in identical fans (Gentle Typh
It seems like one of them is considerably noisier than the other. The one mounted to my case becomes really damn hard to hear below 1100 RPM. It just disappears. The one mounted on my CPU heat-sink has a drone that is audible at much lower RPMs. I'd say it has the tonal character of a tornado siren...

Anyone Tried Tar sheet ?!
I'm talking about this specifically:
I have made my little investigation and it appears tar sheet is something well known to soundproof cars.

I think I've found my test-mule GT220. Compare the backside of this BFG Tech GT 220 I don't know about this one man, a cooler in order to be efficient must be made with copper or aluminium, this one is black i find this suspicious enough. On mine the temp can go up to 60°C when i watch hdtv (assum...

Bit of necromancy, but Google threw this up as a top hit so why not. I'm stunned that no one has mentioned that hard drives spin down on command. An ssd with a 3.5", 7200rpm is fantastic for silence since you just turn the hard drive off when you're not using it. As a storage drive, that's most of ...

My setup consume about 300 watts at large (assuming i use all my hard drives, dvb cards etc at the same time) yours should be roughly the same i believe but think a minute if you get a psu of 300w for a 300w setup that means your psu will have to work at 100% of its capacity hence a lot of noise fro...

so, the PWM feature allows the motherboard to control the fan speed based on the bios temp readings. That's my understanding aswell hence the 4th pin the which provide infos to the mobo and in return that good mobo regulate the rounds per minute accordingly.Regular fans have 2 or 3 pins (= no PWM) ...
