And what case would require you to flip the psu and cut a new hole? All of my posts have been about the SN45G  When I get mine, I plan on flipping the PSU (because in its original position, the PCB inside has its back to the inside), sealing the extra holes, and mounting an 80mm panaflo (about...

Oh ok, I thought I read that even with the stealth temps weren't acceptable. I think a 5v panaflo would provide more than enough cooling and is nearly inaudible. My tower has 4 5v panaflos and it cant be heard at more than 3 feet. You can do the same for the power supply. As soon as I thought of thi...

I really have no idea how youre having trouble cooling the videocard with an 80mm blowing fresh air directly on it. Cutting the rear grill will make an enormous difference even if you leave everything else the same. I think it was in one of the SPCR reviews that Mike (or the reviewer) measured over ...

You might have trouble ducting an SP97 but you could use something like the Scythe NCU2000. There is a review on the site and a couple other members have posted their thoughts.

Also, you're going to have to get rid of the stealths  There are several fans listed in the recommended section.

Did you remove the grill 'protecting' the fins of the ICE cooler? It supposedly blocks >50% of the airflow. Cut that out, remove the shroud and replace both fans with panaflos and noise should go down alot. Temps should be fine. Make sure the rear fan is sucking out and not blowing in. I'm about to ...

The same place the intake is located on every case, the lower front. If the bezel does not have any holes then you will need to drill or cut some new ones. Then, you place your hard drives behind this new intake, and cover up your 5.25" bays. Your hard drives should run just fine where they are, but...

Well if you have a socket a board with the two holes on top and bottom instead of sides of the socket you could try using the mounts that the Zalman 7000A uses, with an A64 compatible cooler. It would fit a board with the regular holes but I wouldn't want the cooler to be held on by two points on th...

Well they designed it that way so it would fit every ATX case on the market. But that area, without a fan, will trap a whole bunch of heat. Similar to what Jan said, the cables should pass through the case fan area, then a PSU shaped box can go where it is supposed to, only have it insulated with no...

Well I don't have one but I'm pretty sure the 36GB version doesn't have FDB and being a 10k drive, a high pitched whine is almost to be expected. I might be wrong though.

From ATIs blurb it looks like some versions (XT?) will have the 256bit GDDR3, and others (Pro, NP?) will have the usual.

I hope so too. I love the NCU2000 but wish they had made a version that required active cooling (in our case, 120mm case fan) with double the number of fins. Hopefully this will perform somwhere along those lines. The 'bat' title makes it feel gimmicky. Oh well.

Put the fan as an exhaust. You can 5V if it starts reliably. Cut the grills if there are any, and like LC said, get some fanmates or a controller to slow them down. I think with a case fan your temps should go down, and a duct probably isn't necessary.

I would recommend getting a case fan. Even if your CPU temps are safe, all that heat is going out the PSU and stressing it more than it should. Getting a case fan will lower your CPU and case temps, which should then allow you to use a slower fan on your CPU. Even at 5V, a case fan will make a huge ...

They still work at non 90º angles, but I think markjia was just saying that it could be deleterious to lifetime/performance of the drive. There was a topic about this somewhere, not sure if it was actually proven.

I think he means it looks crooked

Also, I don't know if I would want to have more than one drive suspended with that 'stretch magic'. Even if it doesn't break, it will be too tight to absorb the vibrations very well.

Mine make a similar noise, although I can't hear it when the case is closed. It sounds more like a whoosh than a hum. Didn't remember hearing it with my 80Gb. Only noticed it with my 120Gb, but went back and checked, and they both make the same noise.

The foam I used was the 1" thick foam that usually comes with a new HD. I also drilled 4 holes in the bottom of the case, then used elastic string to tied it down. With the heatsinks, and a shroud to pull the air across the entire drive, temps were <35ºC.

The only problem with foam in some cases is temps, and yours seem to be fine. It needs some airflow, but you still have as much airflow as before, even after removing a major source of heat. Try unplugging ALL your harddrives, remove the front fan and stop the radeon9800 fan with your finger, then see how quiet that is. You will still have your PSU as a noise maker, but it sh...
