As for the L1A, the quality of those fans isn’t what it used to be. I wouldn't go for it, but it's your call. I would recommend the Nexus as well. But if you think you’re ever going to need a ton of CFM, then go for the Globe. http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=16393 So to be on the v...

Re: FSB speed control

I've had hit-and-miss FSB speed control with Speedfan. I have 3 systems: KT7a-RAID w/ 1400 Tbird, an AOpen AK79D-400 Max w/ 1700XP and now 3000 XP Barton, and an AOpen AK79G-Max w/ 1800XP. The AK79G nForce2 is my HTPC, and FSB control works beatuifully! I have it set to 100MHz/133MHz, and it droppe...

Hey man... I think your system is quite good already! The weakest link that I can see from ur list (best is to hear it)... are those Hard drives... do u hear them? The rest seems ok to me... try stopping each fan to see what makes most noise... good luck! Yep I'm done. I just modded the front intak...

I let the fan (blue Panaflow) run for over 36 hours while I was gone for a few days, for a break in period. I'm using the Sanyo on my Alpha now so I don't have that to do another direct comparison, but I don’t think that’s necessary. From what I can tell it hasn't changed, at least not significantly...

I completely agree with Rusty075 for passive cooling you'll defiantly want to go with the Zalman over the Thermalright.

Hello operandi. Can i see some pictures of what you have done with the HD-cage? I have also the Lian-Li 6070 and i would like to do the same. What exactly is dynamat? I ended up removing it, I don't think it made any difference. Once the case is closed its almost impossible for me to hear the drive...

Well I think I'm done..... for now that is ;). I bought both the Sanyo Denki and blue label Panaflow, see above. The Panaflow wasn't particularly quiet compared to the Sayno Denki newer Hdyrowave Panaflows, much better then the Sunon however. The Sanyo Denki was very quiet, very close to L1A levels;...

Ok, I guess I'll let the fan run in for 24 hours and see what happens. I don't have very high expectations though.

Also, from your experience dose a well balanced fan always equal a low noise fan? The two quietest fans I’ve used the Sanyo Denki and L1A are both very well balanced.

Is it then possible just to remove two pins from the molex connector, or is a switch a better way to do things? Also, is there a fan controller that would work, as I'm a little bit dubious about messing around with the wires on this thing! Thanks guys, Paul Yeah, you can do that too, all you would ...

No I didn't but the difference between the two fans is pretty significant, the panaflow was much louder. The Sanyo Denki was very balanced and exhibited almost no vibrations I'm assuming this relative to the noise of the fans? Would it have made much of a difference? I don't really have anything set...

Both the Sanyo Denki and blue Panaflow arrived and I've spent a few hours testing both, 2:00AM testing, fun :). I should note that my testing was by no means scientific I only had one of each fans except for the L1A's. All testing was done in my Lian Li with everything un-powered expect for my Tagan...

All of the passive Zalman coolers should be enough to handle a 9700 Pro. Sapphire even sold a 9700 Pro with the Zalman outfitted stock. If you have good air flow in your case there really shouldn't be any problems. Is heat being transferred to the other heatsink via the heatpipe properly?, both heat...

Both the fan and shroud a secured to the base of the alpha using the same long screws.

Sanyo Denki Ace, 80mm blue label Panaflow: Tested & Comp

I'm looking at this Sanyo Denki http://store.yahoo.com/directron/ace25.html for my Alpha PAL8045. I'll be dropping the speed down to 1500-2000 from the 3000RPM top speed. I've heard good things about them in the past, anyone here have any experience with them?

Fan decopling on a Alpha heatsink

I’m going to be replacing a Sunon on my Alpha PAL8045 with something a bit quieter now sure what yet, maybe a Sanyo Denki?. Before I do though is there any easy way to decouple the fan without breaking airflow of the fan shroud?

From my experience it depends on the heatsink used and how powerful the fan is. Typically a more powerful fan will work better moving air towards the heatsink. A fan that moves less air will be less dependent on the direction of the air flow. Its also worth noting that having the fan in exhaust (awa...

For the last few months I’ve been experimenting with dropping the dBA output of my system to as low as possible.
