That could explain my 12w value... UPS+a bios that doesn't let me manually disable wake-on-lan and other features. What a pity...

thanks!

flapane: where is the logic in that? You only care if I kill with a gun, the other ways are fine? That comes across as a somewhat ignorant viewpoint. but I cant do anything to the windows without spending insane amounts of money redoing the exterior of my house, and my wife isnt going to let me put...

You can run me over with a car, of course... but at least you won't shoot me without a gun... that should increase my % of surviving in case you run over of petrol and can't use the car  No, I don't enjoy the risk, I simply protected my house, who told you can't do the same? 1. Guns are a second amendment right in the US. So your personal opinion doesnt really matter on that, its a right we have and some us enjoy. 2. the average response time of the police to a call is 20 minutes in most areas, longer in rural areas. how safe does that make you feel when someone breaks...

See we had this mass hysteria just before Obama was elected, even more so just after. Guns sales went through the roof and ammo sales even worse. Why? I can't see the point. What the reasons? Do they believe they live in Iraq? Do they believe they aren't protected by policemen? Is it just a penis e...

Sad to say, but my friend took the power meter away for a while, I'm really curious to do the test you suggested :(

I checked my manual and I have two jumpers:
3pin PS2_USBPW56
keyboard power
+5VSB default

USB device wakeup (3pin USBPW)
+5VSB default for USB 1 to 4
+5V for USB 5 to 11

PSU is 1 month old and mobo is 1 year old.

I have just checked in P5QLPRO bios and there is nothing but S1-S3-auto option, and nothing to disable or enable wake-on-lan and such things.
Seems like I can't do much.

That's why I use an ups.
However I was interested in knowing the power draw in S3 state for other users, because imho 12w are too much.

I wake it up by pressing a key on the keyboard.
I will tell you if W-O-L and other features are enabled in the BIOS.

It is behind and UPS, and when it is completely shut down, it draws exactly 0.
Note that switching from a lc-power 550w to a 82plus be-quiet didn't change the S3 power draw.

Unfortunately I didn't (and I can't because my friend took the power meter away for a while), but of course it must be around 2-3w, because everything is saved on HDD and then the computer is shut down.

S3 sleep state: 12w. Isn't it too much?

Win 7 x64.
When the computer is put into sleep state, I mesaured the power draw at wall, an it turned out to be 12w.
Is it a normal value? I tought the ram was the only component to draw energy, and two sticks of ddr800 don't draw 12w.

Because I paid 130eur for this, and am selling the old stuff (athlon xp) for about 100e, and a CULV is probably even less fast than athlon xp. Assuming some 15w for your laptop vs 47w for my build, I won't save those 400$ on the electrical bill in the next decade (furthermore, we are going to die in...

Look at the third one.
TESTS: 5 out of 5 passed (100%).
At that point, the load dropped to 0% (as shown in coretemp), and the frequency dropped to 1200.
I didn't want to take a screen while testing, as I NEVER touch anything, under testing.
