I didn't realize the Intel C2D E7200 was available at $135, so I'm probably going to go that route. It doesn't sound like 780g would give me any benefit. The desk has about a 60mm hole on the top center already, but I might expand it if needed or add a temp controlled fan. When the computer is not in use, it's in S3 sleep, and the desk is closed.
