Remote desktop is really cool and that site doesn't list this, but XP Home doesn't have IIS! I'm really surprised it doesn't list that, it's a pretty big thing. I just bought an OEM XP Pro since I don't think I would be able to scrounge another free XP Pro key from U of I (it's ~legit :) ). At least...

I'd just like to share that the system I build for my parents is a PIII 1Ghz Coppermine FCPGA2 on a Tyan board and it boots faster than any machine I've ever seen. The CPU heatsink feels like room temperature. It is very cool, only warm thing is the Geforce2 heatsink (fanless). Those PIII 1.4 Tualit...

SONOVA, my session timed out looking at articles  and I lost my friggin post, I'll try to recreate it: That stand is absolutely great! As You can see in the here , the stand is really flexible, and makes it possible to use the screen like it has no stand at all (see the second pic). Very good ...

No, that's a bad thing. Now stagnant air will get caught under the cards. The fans on the bottom of a graphics card push the air out across the surface of the card, thus disapating the heat. With the fan on the topside, the air would quickly rise off the surface of the card. well ideally there woul...

I don't know what response time my 5 year old Gatway 15" (DFP) LCD gets but I get no ghosting in Quake 3 when I jerk my guy around really fast while looking at a bright object. I just tried it to be sure. I just put in Snatch and tried to see some DVD ghosting and didn't see it. I am a gamer and I d...

Hey, is it just the seek noise that is louder on the 7200.7 than the other Barracudas? That's the idea I've been getting from reading lots of things on this. I really don't mind seek noise since it basically happens when you are doing something. The whine is the main headache inducing enemy.

I just cut two small 2by4s to put under my case. Case makers always manage to sneak in the floor intake on the bottom of the front bezel. Tom - maybe at work it's a little louder so you perceive the Dell to be quieter :) They are very quiet though, I have a Dell at work and I don't think it has a cp...

BuiltbyATI Radeon 9800 pro vs. Sapphire Ultimate 9800 Pro

I just bought the built by ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb and now I see in another thread Sapphire's passively cooled Ultimate version. I haven't yet built my system but the video card fan is bound to be one of the louder things in there (but my RAdeon 9000 Pro w/ fan is pretty quiet). What do you think ...
