no mods were necessary to install the Scythe on my P5B-E board
the Scythe blocks the 4pin 12V connector which is located above the CPU at the upper edge of the P5B-E board, but using a long screwdriver I was able to secure the connector.

Re: How about Suspend/Hibernate?
Looks like a great setup. My planned build is almost identical to yours. Do Suspend and Hibernate modes work in your system? I want to be sure that any system I build has these working. Also, I'd love to know what the power draw of this system is in Suspend mode. Have you done any power draw measur...

Are you getting any vibrations from those metal pieces you used to mount the fan on the ninja? Is that back fan mounted with silicone grommets or the like? I have no vibrations at all, not from the Ninja nor the fan at the back. The one at the back is mounted with regular metal screws. I couldn't f...

My SPCR-inspired quiet workstation
After a couple of weeks reading hardware reviews & looking for the right silent component, my workstation is finally running. I didn't have time to make some pics when I was building the rig, but now I did: overview of my desk: http://www.weytens.net/_www/antec20061201_1.jpg internals: http://www.we...

are you gonna OC your system? I've bought a pair of 1GB Apacer PC6400 CL5 with gold colored heatspreaders this weekend in a local shop: €135 each (that's about 112 USD). Certainly cheaper DIMMs can be found, but not from an A-brand like Apacer (at least not in local shops around here) I don't know...

rubber/silicone fan mounts for Nexus fans @ 7V?
Would I hear the difference if I'd use rubber/silicone fan mounts to install my Nexus fans? I will replace the standard Antec tri-speed in my Antec Solo, I'll add a Nexus 92mm as an intake and will replace the Scythe fan on my Ninja by another Nexus 120mm. All 3 will run at about 7V using Zalman Fan...

meanwhile... This morning I picked up my Antec NeoHE 380W PSU. And I also bought 2x 1024MB Apacer PC6400 CL5 memory with gold colored heatspreaders and 2x Zalman FanMate 2 (I wanted 3, but they only had 2 :?) I'm gonna order 2 Nexus 120mm fans (1 to replace the Antec Tri-speed exhaust and 1 to repla...

Both Nexus and Scythe are quite hard to find over here, and reading previous posts (and a recent 80mm fan review on spcr) I can't go wrong choosing between either a Nexus or a Scythe S-flex? I'll let my choice depend on availability then... But I still got 1 question about the Scythe S-flex fans as ...

Because there will be enough heat already inside the case coming from the passive GPU. And my CPU is 90% of the time idle anyway, so why stress things... Stock speed will already be a huge step forward, coming from an Athlon64 3000+ A Seasonic is hard to find over here, so I went for the next best t...

I know the Ninja is a bit overkill for a non-oc E6600, but it would be interesting to cool it with a 7V fan: dead quiet 8) I currenty have a Arctic cooling freezer 64 pro on my Athlon64 3000+. It's rated 7 on the recommended heatsinks page, but I still find it loud enough to be ennoying. As the Ninj...

will all this be cool&quiet?
By the end of this year I'll be replacing my current rig with a faster & quieter desktop. The last couple of days/weeks I've been reading quite a lot of reviews on spcr and some other sites to decide on the components I'm gonna use. As I've almost made up my mind about all the stuff, maybe the time ...

speedlever, I will be building quite the same system in the near future: an Antec Solo case with Asus P5B-E mobo, 2x1GB and an Intel 6600 CPU. If you don't play any games, why not go for the silent MSI 7600GS instead of a 7600GT? Isn't a GT more expensive? Haven't checked... Reading the review on An...

Ian, I can support your hardware choices for the things you want to do with your rig. I've also bought myself an Antec Solo last week and an Antec NeoHE 380W is still in backorder. I think a solid 380W powersupply should be enough for a PC with an average GPU. On the graphic front I will also take a...

Anandtech roundup http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2825 is it just me, or is the MSI NX7600GS really interesting for a quiet non-gaming rig? 8) Things about this card that jumped out in this review: * 512MB at stock speed (the Asus card also has 512MB, but at reduced speed) * dual DVI ...
