Ordering tomorrow: These boards any good?

Hey all, I need to pick up an ATX AM3 motherboard tomorrow, want it to run cool with very little airflow on it and no fans on the chipset, DD3 and be under-voltable CPU and Mem. Also needs room around the CPU to support a big passive heatsink. Also forgot to mention this will run off a Pico PSU. Thi...

Nevermind i found Minibox and Shortcircuit and eBay

Hopefully someone will ship to Canada

Is it possible to get a 200watt brick? I noticed that the M4 power supply DC/DC goes up to 250 watts and has an ATX enclosure which would be perfect.

Best Place to Find Brick PSU Kit?

Hi! I'm wondering where the best place to get a DC/DC PSU kit is, something like the Pico PSU or similar. I think as close to 150watts as I can get, or even more if possible (last time I checked 150 was about as much as you could run off a brick). Ideally I could order the brick along with the conve...

Its entirely do-able. Its how i have my current gamming rig set up. Got a passive 8800gt with a C2D all with just a single 120mm fan at 6v.
Wow that is pretty awesome.

Small Cases

Me again

I thought I would start a thread where everyone posts their favorite small case.

I know that cases like the Solo, 180/182 etc are popular on here.

What are the best (quietest or coolest) smaller cases? Haven't found a thread devoted specifically to building a smaller box.

First, thank you for everyone who offers friendly and helpful opinions and advice. I am disappointed in some of the comments like "if I were you I'd leave this project for later" that assume I am dumb just because I ask questions. I do have my own answers, but I felt like it was OK to ask questions,...

Hey guys - Good info but some conflicting ideas. Is it best to exhaust through the top of the case or through the rear of the case? Also should the intake be at the front of the case, or should I block that off and let the power supply be the intake at the bottom? I can buy any case, so I can find a...

heh. Canada. Not too warm!

I'm thinking that I will do best with the new Lian-Li PC-7f

Solo is probably quieter but then the power supply would be at the top, not sure I want to rely on that with a fanless PS. Maybe I could go external PS.

Hi! I'm planning to build an otherwise passively cooled machine with just a SINGLE 120mm fan for the whole project. Will use a fanless atx power supply and fanless video card and fanless cpu heatsink. Any advice about: What case to use? Desktop (horiz) or Tower (vert)? Fan at the top, on the side, o...

Cases that come w/ Fanless Power Supply

Looking for a case that comes with a fanless power supply and supports using 120mm fan. Any suggestions?

Who makes cases that come w/ fanless supplies?

Hoping that someone makes one that is well ventilated to the exterior of the case.

Advice on new build

Hey guys, I'm kind of a newbie and could use some help before I spend money! I'm in Canada so parts are sometimes hard to find. Goal is to build a quiet budget work/game machine that is entirely passive or cooled entirely by a single 120mm fan. Am I crazy? Plan so far: Passive video card E.g. Radeon...

The VIA seems good though, I think I couldgo with that. With the VIA I can also use one of those PicoPSU's without any worry. Not sure consumption would be as low with the sempron? It would be REALLY nice to use the PicoPSU. The problem with the Sempron solution is I guess the heat sink, I want to u...

Yeah, that might work. For fanless PSU look at a PicoPSU + an AC/DC power brick, this is good up to 120W which will be way more than you'll need. If you're booting from a flash card I assume you'll be using Linux? I think I will go this route, the picoPSU + brick + VIA EPIA C7 should be compeltely ...

Coolest running processor choice?

I want to build a fanless PC that will only rely on passive (heat sink) cooling of the processor. I can't use a really tall heat sink because its going in a slim case. So I was wondering if anyone can give me advice about what processor is going to be the best starting point. I plan to underclock it...

Also, it can't use liquid cooling and I am not clever enough to DIY much of anything such as a heat-pipe unless its a prebuilt kit. I realize I am asking a lot but I am hoping someone can just tell me what processor is going to run coolest underclocked and will suggest a heat sink that is not too ta...
