61C is very hot to try to run an overclocked CPU, but very impressive for a passive design.

I think you should try mounting a big copper heatsink like the Zalman 7000 on the CPU block and the top block :)

blues suck, go avs!

Usually people use water with a bit of dish soap. You can find wet/dry sandpaper of sufficient grit at auto stores.

I'll second that... we've had a long string of HP printers die on us, and this time we tried an i850. It hasn't died on us yet (though all the HPs lasted quite a bit longer than this) and print quality is excellent...

Just to affirm rusty's comment... GPUs are designed with higher temps in mind; just look where they have to be kept. With one thin little slot and a PCI right below it can be problematic and the GPU still has to survive it fine. I stuck a fan on my card (stock AMD heatsink on a Geforce3 Ti200) simpl...

Okay, I've tried Sisoft filesystem benchmark, 3dmark 2001, and UT2003 flyby/botmatch and I can't find a difference with the enabling of maxboost.

Then again, I do have 1gb of RAM so disk access should be pretty rare.

Hmm, its worth a try. My backups are pretty up to date so I don't really have to worry about data corruption (not that I have anything important enough to worry about corrupting) So I guess I'll try it out.

CPUBurn is the best stress program I've used. No cycling like in Prime95 -- it produces a steadier high temp & keeps it there while Prime95 seems to swing up & down a bit. http://www.procooling.com/articles/html/amd_thermal_diode_testing_cali.php There's a comparison of stress tests most of the way...

The only thing I found really effective for cutting down on the whine was an inch of open cell foam. But of course thats not so good for temps... Replacing the drives will be expensive, but its definately worth it, the difference is just amazing. Based on performance I'm guessing the DM9+ I've got n...

My next step in watercooling

I've completed my next step in watercooling; now my CPU, northbridge, hard drive, and MOSFETs are all watercooled. It has had unbeleivable results. 1. My motherboard is now even MORE picky about RAM. I didn't even think that was possible. I'll probably have to buy a new motherboard next month :( 2. ...

I should qualify that last leaking part. It didn't leak. I now have no less than 20 connections from four tees and four waterblocks over my motherboard, it'll be a miracle if it passes my first leak test.

3" of thermal paste would also be a terrible thermal interface, since they have an very low conductivity.

And lets not go into what that much thermal paste would cost! Move over $1000 heat pipe case, its $1500 of thermal paste!

Well, my hard drive hits 45C in 25C ambient; for it to hit the operating temperatures it would have to be -20C out. The other concern I would have is you said the 80mm fan on the PSU is not starting. I am assuming the 92 mm is on the bottom of the PSU, and the 80mm in the back, in which case you could have air blowing into the PSU and out vents back into the case. This clearly would not be desirable if it is occu...
