I have both of these. Both supplies are very quiet, but I think the Seasonic is a tiny bit quieter. (Subjective judgement) The airflow patterns are different on the two supplies. The Seasonic's airflow goes through the bottom and the Neo goes through the end. So if you are planning on ducting your P...

You want an easy-to-use and cheap HSF? Buy a retail processor.

They are not "crap".

Plus, you get a longer warranty with the retail processor than with OEM.

I bought a P150 case, prepared to swap out the PSU if necessary. It wasn't. From the very first powerup, the PSU performed flawlessly. I have only the PCI-Express modular cable and one molex modular cable connected. Originally, I had one IDE hard disk and a DVD drive on the cable, I now have two SAT...

It depends on what your slowest component is. If you are running a slow/old processor, keep the 7600GT. If you are running a newer processor (Core 2 Duo or AM2), upgrade. Plus, if you are running lower resolutions, then the 7600GT is sufficient. I personally have a socket 754 setup (Sempron 2600 + 7...

Quieting my NAS

Hello, My NAS looks a lot like a hard drive enclosure. It looks like this , except it's not the same brand. The NAS comes with a 25mm fan which is very loud and has a bad buzzing quality to its sound. The case of the NAS is aluminum and does get warm when the NAS is powered on. The hard drive inside...

Yep the fan is 25mm.

I unplugged the fan, easily and non-destructively done and I am running the NAS fanless (and caseless, so it looks pretty much like a hard drive now).

I think I'll post on a different section on what to do now.

Now that I actually look at the device, I think the fan is actually 25 mm instead of 40 mm. The airflow from the fan is quite restricted, too. Maybe I can just disable the fan and use some thermal tape or some other way of conducting heat from the hard drive to the aluminum enclosure.

Well, the NAS is essentially a drive enclosure with some electronics added. It looks something like this . Maybe there's another way to get heat from the drive to the external case, with thermal tape or something. The NAS works fine now so I'm not interested in modding it heavily or spending more th...

Is there really such a thing as a quiet 40 mm fan?

Hello, My NAS has a horrible sounding 40 mm fan and I was hoping to replace it with something quieter. A search turned up a 40 mm Papst fan that is supposedly "silent". Is that a bunch of hooey? The 40 mm fans I have encountered (chipset coolers and early CPU fans) have always been very noisy. Regar...

Currently, I have an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (Thoroughbred) processor, running at 2.0 GHz, 266 MHz FSB. Will I be able to fold much faster with a 2800+ Barton? Is it worth upgrading? "Boxen" was originally simply a plural of "Box", similar to the plural of an old VAX Box was two "VAXen". Now people use boxen as singular, which is wrong, IMO.
