RE: Thermalright V2 A list of compatibility can be found here . Yes the 8800GT is compatible, though the RAM sinks can be purchased separately for $5.99. Can anybody point to a review of this cooler? It is all copper, takes only 1 extra slot (if i am understanding correctly): From Thermalright's we...

I may be a little out of the loop on the HR-03 and it's derivatives, but early on I remember reading several reports of the RAM sinks falling off easily. Is this an issue that has been corrected, or was I just reading isolated cases? I'm inclined to think they must stay on now due to the popularity ...

I am trading in my 8800GTS for an 8800GT using eVGA's "step-up" program. I know what the 8800GTS sounds like - it is not *silent* but it is definitely the quietest stock video card I have owned. I agree that it is a gentle hum when not under load, and very unobtrusive overall. I can compare it to my...

For those that aren't in the know, this is nothing new really. Nvidia has been known for doing this now for some time. For the majority of users (read: typical, average, don't-need-the-best, gamers) this apparently is not an issue. For many enthusiasts, however, it is. Let it also be noted that many...

Nevermind, i read the spec sheet and the dimensions match that of the 8800GTS, which we all know fits the Solo without issue. ---While at New Egg....read the user reviews on Mobos. The "quality control and engineering" in this area is something subject to change. What you MOSTLY need is not 2% more power on a heavy overclock, you need reliability. I recall noticing a Gigabyte that is a P35--yet is about $80-90,it does NOT ...

Okay no response.......hmmm....... Do image editing programs benefit more from a high end chipset like, say, the P35, than a mid-range chipset like the 945, or is the performance more dependent on processor clock-speed? Memory bandwidth? I'm not quite sure where the performance I am seeking is comin...

Need system for Vinyl Express LXi Signmaking Software

I am building a system around the Core2Duo E2140 and I am in a quandary over which motherboard to buy. Is it necessary to buy a chipset such as a 965 or P35 in order to see great performance for a non-gaming machine? The system I am building is being built for the purpose of running a software that ...

Antec Solo aesthetics - am I the only one with this problem?

I recently build a PC around the Antec Solo. It is a great case and I have no regrets. I have a DVD-ROM in the top bay that is black but has a dull sheen that contrasts horribly with the rest of the front bay covers where no drives are installed. Is this just peculiar to this particular drive or do ...

I didn't know that about eVGA. If this is true I will probably try the HR-03 at some point. I knew XFX had this policy; didn't know eVGA or BFG did as well.

I didn't mean to imply that it was your first build, but I see that it sounded that way. Apologies if I offended. I'm on the same page with you about buying what you pay for, so I guess my next question is if the RAM was advertised to run at DDR2 800 with 4-4-4-12 timings? If so, was the voltage men...

Newegg has a great comparison feature for discerning motherboard differences. I think it is something that has played a key role in their success. I always review hardware at Newegg before making the purchase, even if the transaction is done elsewhere.

Re: DDR800 Running at 667 - Why?

I've reset the DRAM timing to 4-4-4-12 from 5-5-5-15 to no avail. Question: how many of you actually believe there is a perceptible difference between memory timings such as these? While I am a performance zealot like most of you, I am unable to understand why such a small difference seems importan...

Is any particular brand of the 8800GTS quieter than others?

I think i'm about to buy this card. Currently, I'm trying to decide between eVGA and XFX. I have read the threads stating that the 8800GTS, in general, is a cooled quietly with the stock solution. If one brand has a reputation for being the "quietest" I would like to know.
