Re: Corsair 275Q
No sign of that. It has a chip embedded in the middle so would have thought it could control fans somehow externally from the motherboard which, as you know, in my case, does not currently work. If only I could get Speedfan to load automatically and set my fans up period. Everytime I start it, the %...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155
Well I ordered a splitter earlier so going to try that for now. Very annoying, and won't be fixed until I upgrade. But I don't NEED to upgrade so probably won't be fixed. It will cost me £700 to upgrade to current gen of some kind and the only thing that would make it better than this is being able ...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155
There is no CPU_OPT header on this motherboard. Just the 4 shown in the image above. So I either buy a PWM Y splitter and run the hub and the cpu fan off it, or I buy a PWM exstention cable and run the cpu fan off the hub and the hub off the CPU PWM socket. Either way it sucks because I wanted to ru...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155
So I fixed that...buy unplugged the hub.
So now I just have the noctua in the middle of the D14...using zip ties no less xD
Trying to figure out how I can use the other fans though. I could use a Y-cable on the CPU PWM but running 3 fans off it (will be 5) might be a bit dodgy?

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155
Hi Sorry to bump a 6 year old thread, but I am using the 6 year old motherboard in the title and have a big problem. I have a P8z77-V-Lx2 and I have a new case (275Q) that comes with a fan hub. My motherboard has a pair of 4 pin slots, one for CPU and one for chassis fans. My problem is I have my CP...

Re: Choosing a heatsink to go with a A12x25?
OK nvm, even just one fan was bugging me, gone back to stock clocks and no fans at all and peaaaaaaaaaaaaace and quiet. Quit gaming again too, actually taken my 1060 out, gonna sell that, buy a mITX and put everything into a Define Nano S. I will try that with these noctua PWM's and see if that's to...

Re: Is Passive CPU Cooling Best for Silent Computing?
If I wasn't gaming or folding or using handbrake I would go back to full passive in an instant. IMO if you want to do that you need as many cores and threads as possible that will fit into ~100w TDP. I am pretty sure a 2700x with the primary core boost thing turned off (to make it like a 2700, excep...

Re: is Nofan discontinuing the cr-95?
But no one has actually reviewed a D14 or D15 with no fans. I have actually used one. Not only that I have used one in a case with no exhaust fan and no intake fans, or a variation. 3770k 4.2ghz 1.128v P95 10 mins small FFT ~76C with passive D14 and one exhaust fan. That's not only lower voltage tha...

Re: New noctua 120mm PWM fan, NF-A12x25 the GT Clone
I am going to pick one up for a heatsink. At some point I would like to swap cases I don't know if 3x120mm is required for positive air pressure or if 2x120mm is enough (all with 1x120mm exhaust). At one point I thought the silentist idea would be to run an AIO on CPU and a hybrid gfx card like an e...

2500k from 2011 lasted me 'till the end of 2018 on one application of IC-DIAMOND 24C at 4.8ghz for it's whole life.
It only stopped when I upgraded the cpu.

Choosing a heatsink to go with a A12x25?
So I have decided to say bye bye to my D14 heatsink, it is too big, too difficult to work around (I either have to take my motherboard out of the case or take the top of the case off, which is difficult on this case, just to plug in fan cables) and generally I think it is outdated. I have also decid...

Are you sure they won't produce resonance / vibration though mounted onto a heatsink? That test used them free-standing.

Re: is Nofan discontinuing the cr-95?
Always seemed like a pointless product to me, given that a D14 or D15/D15S without the fan(s) attached will do the same job. I have run both 2500k and 3770k fanless on a D14 for 3 years+ and I do stuff like folding@home, encoding, Plex Optimizations etc all fine. That's with a fan in the box though...

Quietest Noctua to go in my D14?
So I want to go from passive to air cooled but be as silent as possible. And with Noctua PWM fan. Noctua NF-A15 PWM seems to be the right one but I am wondering if anything else is better? Will be using cable ties (gg) until fan mount wires come from Noctua I only want one fan and will put it in the...

Re: 3770k non-delid + D14 passive
Fan arrived, and so much better, all I can hear is airflow when cpu maxed out, can't hear ANYTHING with the pc at idle...like having the fan unplugged. Using the LNA. It took me an hour of trying to get the tiny silicon "screws" to work before giving up and using the Noctua screws which just go stra...

Re: 3770k non-delid + D14 passive
Ordered a Noctua but I ordered the wrong one... I have ordered Noctua NF-S12A PWM instead of Noctua A12x25. Nevertheless the S12A has rave reviews as a PWM exhaust fan and only £17 so why not? It should come tomorrow. This Arctic is a good buy for £5 if you have a closed case I doubt you will hear t...

Re: 3770k non-delid + D14 passive
I mean inaudible fans are great but experience has taught me they aren't inaudible. In a perfect world I would have them work like my GPU does. Below 60c the fans don't spin at all, then they go up in increments. But I don't think that is possible as I cannot firstly find quiet fans that spin down t...

Re: 3770k non-delid + D14 passive
I am searching for the quietest cpu cooler currently which is looking like a D15 or possibly a beQuiet solution however people say the rifle bearings make noise on these. And it's all going to go into another case, most likely a 750d Airflow edition. Then Delid the cpu so I can run it 4.4ghz or pre...

Re: 3770k non-delid + D14 passive
Why not put the D14's fans back on and see how that goes? I ran them for around 5 years flat out (before realising what fan speed control was) with my desktop inside a desk, so the noise didn't affect me, in that 5 years I never dusted the PC and they jammed from dust and both broke, so they went i...

Re: Arctic Freezer 33 CO vs Cryorig H7
Hi I saw rave reviews for Arctic F12 Silent fans, so I bought one, and it has obvious bearing noise. So to me it is not silent. In fact I can walk into my room and know what my PC is upto, based on if it is spinning fast, based on the bearing noise. My PC is on my desk though and the case (Carbide 4...

3770k non-delid + D14 passive
Currently running 3770k and a Noctua D14 with no fans. I have only 1 fan in the system - arctic F12 Silent (it's not, can hear the bearings, but they are 5 Euros new so...) and it never goes above 80C. I have not Prime tested it...because IMO it's useless running a synthetic load designed to kill a ...

Quietest case in 2018 for $150 or less?
Got a spare £100/$150 to spend and I want a new case. My case is great because it is full of holes (carbide 400r) so I get to run my system passive - only the psu and the 1060 6gb have fans, and they only come on when gaming - the psu never comes on except in POST). I run a 2500k not overclocked, un...
