1900 rpm lol Mine can go up to 1200 and i consider that speed VERY noisy. Anyway, regarding your problem did you go into the bios and checked the option "Smart fan" ? You might wanna try to disable it, reboot and enable it again; I know on my mobo from time to time the same problem happens and that'...

1TB that's something consequent. My sumsung is 200 gb, no whining (i have another 250gb no whining). On the contrary i have 2 x 500gb Seagate they do whine a little.
You might try to disable the option "allow indexing" on this drive (right click + properties)

I have a 500 gb external WD drive, it's quiet compared to the other 500gb external from Seagate. Compared to a ssd i'm guessing it's not that quiet. In any case, i would recommand you this brand , yes. This or a Samsung. Now if you want a traditional drive and real quiet you have to look at the specs...

Nero drive speed does the work well enough for me, except for cds, oddly, for dvds & bds it's perfect.

I don't think there are many good new bd players nowadays without high speeds capabilities you might look out for the first players commercialised, just a thought.

Speaking of noise absorbtion kit, i think this one don't smell plus it's got a sound barrier so more efficient, supposedly.I'll buy some soon to see.

Personally i bought an Akasa kit, it did smell a little at first but now it's almost disapeared.

0.41 A for the slipstream !? Are they even serious to recommend such a fan ? For a gaming, ultra performing system maybe but for a random computer i doubt it, let alone a htpc. I just changed my psu fan today cause i found it noisy and i made some tests, it indeed was noisy, not only whining but al...

You need a better fan it seems. For the heat i guess the position don't help, close to the graphic card.Perhaps you should avoid it and control your fan with a software (speed fan or cpuid HW Monitor Pro), connect the fan to your motherboard (must be 3 pins). If you got 2 or 3 fans you should invest...

When i think of "whinning noise" i think of a PSU fan. My previous psu made such a noise but since i changed it , it's much better. What you can and should do is test your PSU by connecting the green wire to the black wire with a paper clip.Connect a hhd or another fan to your psu in order to have a...

The concept is flawed because one single pwm header rely on one single digital probe, in other words if you connect say your cpu/gpu fans on the same header it makes no sense. The mobo will automatically raise up the speed of both fans even though the gpu, most likely, might not need such a speed inc...

You got my attention here. So you're saying one can manage to use the 4th pin (control), the which control a fan speed via the PWM method (extreme versality of the voltage variation "fully on <> fully off")

I wonder how that works on the software side.Care to explain more ?

I have the NZXT sentry2, i use it with non pwm fans.It don't support pwm fans since it only have 2 pins on each of the 5 outputs (or molex adaptator). The NZXT's minimum fan speed control (like most fan controllers i believe) is 40%. 40% of what you may ask (I asked myself too).Answer is: 40% of the...

(or + 0.1 °C should i say) Give me a break What i can say though is i can hear the difference between a full spining fan & a fan spining at half its speed...food for thought. Yep slowing the drive speed down via a software is the solution. If you have XP use Nero Drive Speed. For Vista/ 7 i don't know.

Your best option imo would be to use a large, quiet fan (140mm and maybe 1200 rpm maximum) and control it via a rheobus this way you're set up. A ULNA cable for the psu fan is a no-go imo because if somehow the fan need to spin at 100% it'll not be allowed and the psu will probably fry. Just a thoug...
