Here's a simple circuit I used to solve the power on problem of the NeoHE. Thanks to cmcquistion's Terminal Block controller and Falstad's Circuit Simulator . notareal's simple diode fan controller with a dummy load aka the NeoHE FIX. Re: A loading resistor for picky PSUs?

Won't the PS shut down or "act strange" if the load drops below the "1 amp" limmit a short while after startup? Tested this with my NeoHE; after PC managed to power on, I simply disconnected those spare devices I been using to help power on and NeoHE still stayed on, reboots ok. But if I turn it of...

A loading resistor for picky PSUs?

The simple solution is to add loading resistors within the PSU to guarantee the min load. Done simply, this will cost a couple percent in efficiency, maybe an additional 10-15W power draw all the time. (I believe this is the approach taken with the Antec Smart Power 2 series, which explains its rel...

I'm actually really hesitant about it myself, but the case looks like it will be sooo nice and quiet. I probably won't be able to keep myself from buying one. ;) Antec P150 is definetly a great case and NeoHE is really nice PSU, if it happens to work. Even with the dificulties I have had with NeoHE...

Re: Is microATX suitable for a multimedia PC?

I am considering building This MicroATX motheroboard into a multimedia/HTPC with these parts (minus the ATX applicable ones) http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16815116620 . The goal is a multimedia home PC with mild HTPC capabilities. No/light gaming. My question is if this is a wi...

I’m putting together a new computer and I think Antecs P150 case looks like the perfect case for it. Naturally I have reservations about the stability of the NeoHE 430, especially with the components I have at the moment: * Asus A8N-VM CSM (Integrated graphics) with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and 2x512...

Have not spotted this before: AOpen G325. Looks almost like one might be able to use a Ninja (maybe passive) with this cube as PSU is located "outside" the box.

For silence, I'd go with Nexus fans. Have you considered the BenQ DW 1640? Pretty quiet, and nice performance. Might save you some bucks... which could go for a Nexus fan 8) :D  I have understood that Pioneer does have a build-in user settable speed options, but with BenQ you have to use Nero...

I'm a newcomer to building my own system from scratch and just spent most of the night trying to get it powered on. I read about the NE430 AFTER I ordered it from newegg. True. It's a pitty, as NeoHE is a nice and quited PSU - when it behaves.

Getting grazy. NeoHE worked fine with Athlon 64 X2 3800+ MSI K8NGM2-FID 2 x 1GB DDR 400MHz 2 x Samsung SP2504C BenQ DW1650 with a spare cd- and a floppydrive. The PC did power on with the TriCool fan set on low, tested that several times. Now after the PC was turned off for a day, it won't power on,...

The NeoHE review assumed that split between the +12V rails is between sockets 2 and 3 and MB connector is in own +12V rail, as manual do say about PCI-E "NOTE: For Neo HE 500 and Neo HE 550 only. When using dual graphic card systems (i.e. SLI), we recommend that the PCI connectors be attached as fo...

Adding more load to NeoHE 430 seems to help. My HeoHE (s/n start 0512) seems to power on if I add some old junk dvd and floppy drive. That's not a solution, but load on all 12V rail seems to do the trick. Wake up Antec engineers and marketing people , Antec P150 case and NeoHE PSUs should not be sol...

I did find P150 rather quited by itself. Just use that rubber HDD suspension system, not HDD bays. TriCool fan was hard mounted, but fine when set on low speed after I did change the mounting to someting like in Quiet PC for Torrid Thailand (No need to add extra fans, but PSU duct is nice). Good luc...

P150 looks really good, hope it will be available black or black/silver like p180. PSU duck should be easy to make to that nice NeoHE PSU. Perhaps a totally flush front would have given a better look, but that a matter of taste. Can't wait to see it reviewed here.
