Oh no. IMO we need to get away from any openings on the bottom of PSUs. All that does is allow heat from the CPU to go right in, compound with the PSUs own heat, drive its fan speed up...you know the rest. Actaully, I really dont know why the "12cm bottom fan" design persists in an age where decent ...

I'll see if warm air is coming out with the intake fan. It might be hard to gauge exactly what's happening unless we could shrink down like in Fantastic Voyage and be inside the PC while its running. :) I thought about this at great length last night. I wish Mr.Antec would chime in here... The sing...

Btw, do the screw holes in the front of your 3000B match up with the 120mm fan? I've read some of the newer ones have extra holes I got my SLK3000B from Tech Data about 2 weeks ago, and was delighted to find standard 120mm mounting holes just inside of the ones for their plastic mount (though I hav...

while TP2's and SP2's are quiet... Yes, but which is quieter (under normal use)? I was all set to buy a TPII380....but I read the comments over at OC Forum and panicked. I impulse-ordered an SP400, but havent opened it yet ('cause once I do I cant return it). I hesitate because I just dont like the...

Those holes are most puzzling. Obviously, Antec found or felt they were needed for some reason. Instinctively, one would think it would just leak warm air back into the PC, especially if there is a case fan creating a negative pressure in the case. On the other hand, the vents might be there to allo...

Thick vs. Thin fans
I'm sure this has been dealt with before but a search for "fan thickness" wasnt very friuitfull. If anyone can point me to an old thread, otherwise.... What in principal is the difference between a thin fan with many blades vs. thick ones with fewer blades? Which gives more pressure, or CFM, or what?

I would like to hear the other fan too Must be maddening. I mean, my obsessive compulsive side would allways wonder if the second fan is working unless I witnessed it spin up at least once. :) I have an Onkyo Surround Sound receiver with a fan which never kicks in, but at least it spins for one sec...

The rear fan hasn't come on yet.....I already answered this a few posts earlier. Yes, I know. I was just hopping the fan HAD come on and you could comment on its noise. That the first fan is sooo quiet is very interesting. The SmartPowers sound (no pun intended) too good to be true. If they are as ...

One would assume... I hate to assume, especially since if I order through work, I cant send it back. :) I was going to take a chance ordering one, but then I had this horible vision of a fan kicking on to full speed all of the sudden right in the middle of me working or playing, which would of cour...

Re: Antec SmartPower 2.0 - Finally some info
It's not odd at all, because that fan is more on the inside of the PC, it's noise will escape the case much less. Ok... I get the idea now...makes sense (as long as there are no vents on the bottom).....though as you mention, one would think that the outside fan would be restrictive to the inner on...

Antec SmartPower 2.0 - Finally some info
Antec just posted a little info: http://www.antec.com/us/pro_p_SPII.html Unique Fan setup: usual exhaust, plus intake opposite (not on the bottom). Strange text in their literature though: "exhaust fan starts to spin when the power supply reaches certain terperatures to ensure proper air flow, the s...

Question on sizes... Of the two hard drive gromets sizes listed, does anyone know which is a "perfect fit" as a replacement for those that come with the SLK3000B's drive cage? I would just measure mine but its near imposible to measure decimal inches with a ruler. :) Also, I have the same question a...

Enermax NoiseTaker "2.0"
I could swear this was not on their site last week.

Looks like the 425 and 475 models have been updated with the 24pin (a nice 20+4 unit rather than an adapter), 6pin PCIE connector, etc.

Well, yes, this thread: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=3843 was particularly helpfull as a starting point, and in fact lists two different sizes (one dubbed "silence", the other "performace") but it never really got into whether either makes for a "perfect fit" for the ubiquitous A...

Which McMaster-Carr gromets for SLK3000B Drive cage?
Not sure if this question belong here or over in silent storage...
I've seen the gromets on page 582, but does anybody know which exact one is a perfect fit for the SLK3000B's drive cage? Their specs are in fractions of inches which is near impossible for me to measure.

Main disadvantage, in the context of "quiet" is that like its predesesors, the TX640 has only one 8cm rear fan. By the time you get an 8cm to be quiet, you wont be left with stellar air changes. Only "advantage" I can see is that it comes with a ATX2.0 compliant (but still backware compatible) power...

Probably not by April 20th, based on what I'm aware of and what I can guess. Don't worry, any delays in the reviews will be worth it. I'm, new here. Flaw in the SLK3000B's drive cage?
Am I crazy, or is there a bit of a flaw in the drive cage? I mean, sure, the drives are mounted by rubber gromets, but they each sit on four metal folds in the cage. I found I had to "fudge" my drive up a bit so that it didnt contact the metal. I'm thinking those folds in the metal should be bent up...
