What you have described sounds to my uneducated (in power supply design) ear like the noise an MRI makes (I've had quite a few MRIs). If you do trace the noise to the PSU, you may well need the advice of someone seriously into PSU design, because the issue is not just finding a "good" PSU, but findi...

The surest way to isolate the problem is to remove the PSU from the case, reconnect things and fire it up. You won't have any problem isolating the noise if it comes from the PSU, which seems likely.

Drool worthy new Gigabyte PSU

The 140 [sic] mm fan may be one of the LEAST interesting new things on this PSU. It comes with software that shows voltages, current, watts, fan speed, PSU temp, etc.

The ever-vigilant Hexus has a brief report

A few more details are available from Gigabyte.

Looks like it might help damp vibration from my injet printer. My system is on an old Steelcase table, with CRT, case, and printer. When the printer runs, depending upon what it's printing, the table vibrates. All caused by the printer carriage motion, and what appears to be a resonance. Even the CR...

A question - have you determined if the fan on the HDD cage can be replaced? None of the reviews to date have addressed this, or measured the noise from the stock fan. I've long hoped that Lian Li would come out with something along this general line - a 6077 without the ugly slits in the front pane...

Also, where did you see a silver case with black on the inside of the door? Newegg shows the same color for both cases on the inside of the door. All the ones I've seen locally (Silicon Valley), at various Fry's and some local computer stores, have had black inside panels on silver p180s. Of course...

Two questions about color on the p182-shipped-as-p180. 1. It's hard to tell from the photo if you received a black case or the gunmetal case. Which is it? 2. What color is the inside of the door? (Up till now, on the p180, they have been a different color than the outside case color - silver cases h...

I have 4 drives, and use two Nexus 92 mm up front at full speed. They are somewhat soft mounted with 5/32'' bungee cord and a silicone fan gasket.

I'm more concerned about cooling than quiet, but even if quiet was my principal concern, I'd be happy. The Nexus 92 mm fans are very quiet.

As I'm sure you've figured out by now - It Depends. It depends upon how many drives you have, how hot they run, which fans you use, how quiet a system you want, etc. It Depends. I tried attaching wheels to a P150 that was sitting on carpet. I used 3M double sided tape. The friction of the carpet was high enough that moving the case in any direction exerted a bending moment on the wheels that was strong enough that the wheels ripped off pretty quickly. Part of this was becau...

A possibility is that the HDD temperature sensor is not calibrated correctly. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about that if that is the case. Why in the world did Antec make the black p180's door silver(ish) on the inside? When opened fully and stowed on the side of the case, as shown in the picture, the "all-black" appearance is gone.
