A good way to check is to manually stop the fan [stick a pencil in it or something]. Stopping each fan is a okay way to figure out what pieces are your big noise makers.

I'm not sure what the price difference is, but the 5600 runs the ddr2-800 at full speed, where the 6000+ and the 5200+ don't. If its a minimal amount of difference more, then I'd go for it. I've said it many times, but I found the stock AMD cooler rather inadequate inside a stock Antec P180. Otherwi...

Case; P18X - 70-120$ [Depending on rebate, etc] Power Supply; Corsair is probably overkill, but any Antec Earthwatts, Corsair or Seasonic Supply should be fine for what your doing. Say 100$ Optional; I believe the Sonata III comes with a 500W Earthwatts supply that is pretty nice. ~100$ for the pair...

I know I have a Powered hub, and that can extend the range of it, but From wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB Cables The maximum length of a USB cable is 5 meters; greater lengths require hubs[6] or active extension cables - active repeaters. USB connections can be extended to 50 m over CAT5 or ...

If you're planning on SLI someday, that motherboard only has 8x PCI-X slots if you're using both. I don't know the numbers as far as hampering performance, but I figure that you're just butter off biting the bullet and getting the full blown dual 16x slot motherboard [intel 680i chipset if i'm not m...

That's pretty decent drop...
I wanted to try that, but then my ZeroTherm CPU cooler fan ended up facing to the top of the case :)

Re: Quiet Office PC

I am looking towards getting a new PC. My needs now are having: - A dual core CPU (but does not need to be super fast) - Dual head graphics (some 3d capability but only basic is needed) - 200GB+ HD - 2GB Memory At my office we just put together pre-built PC's from mwave with the following specs; An...

Re: New Quiet Gaming PC. Any advice?

My monitor does 1024x768 atm. Any help is greatly appreciated and thx again for your help! Sounds like investing in a LCD might be a good pick for you, too :) The system itself looks great, as long as you don't get into any monitors bigger than 22" widescreens. [1680x1050] I'd even say you can get ...

Looks pretty killer.

Does the motherboard have enough fan connectors on it, or were you going to just connect them directly to the power supply?

I've had pretty good luck with the ASUS Q-Fan stuff, but I'm pretty noob as far as this all goes.

Looks aight.

Looks pretty good to me. I have that P180 as well and it comes with 3 stock fans; What was your plan with the 4th nexus fan? I was a little unsatisfied performance-wise with the Antec Fans that came with the case; They don't have 3 pin motherboard hookups, and were noisy on any setting higher than "...
