That would be an interesting review if someone tested several bigr CPU heatsinks without their fans and report the CPU temps with each. I would guess someone has done this, does anyone know any links? I'm using Scythe Ninja without it's fan and without case fans, E8400@1,8GHz full load gives 69 degr...

Easy job, go ahead. Just forget the external switches, unblug the original fans and connect each Nexus straight to your motherboard. I did the same couple of years ago and it did help a lot in sound levels. It's also possible to keep using the external switches, easiest way is wire cutting and new c...

Good luck in fitting the Accelero in. 1. Bend anything in it, just try not to block any air passages (other hot parts under the sink). Some fin's may touck each other freely, that won't affect too much in its performance. 2. add any 12cm quiet fan or two on top of accelero blowing air towards all ho...

Your selection of cases look good, lacking Antec SOLO thou. I'd go for one with ideal locations of exhaust vents (ideally in a direction where possible noise may flow). Also make sure that your GPU fits in for its lenght. SPCR's recommended PSU's with one 12cm fan are ok, if the fan is still too noi...

And yet more, even the last fan (inside PSU) has gone. I did put another one there. So I modded my PSU, replaced a stock ADDA fan with a silent Scythe flex. Well... it was really worth it. The airflow is sufficient. The sound of airflow is minimum. Inaudible from 1,4 meters now (was 1,8 before the ...

Well here you made the right decision. A company selling PSU with a special required stock fan - and not selling that fan as a spare part - is expecting you to buy a whole new PSU after warranty voids. (when it's broken, of course). Well, i don't suppose that is theonly company with that kind of pol...

Using accelero in any graphic card is always a GREAT idea. Another manufacturer is selling 5000-series GPU's with their own twin-fan cooling, and according to one test i've read it's a lot quieter than vapor-x system. Vapor-X also have their patent for less heat generation, so buying a vapor-x and c...

Story goes on: From 5 fans to 2 fans, from 2 fans to 0 fans. PSU fan in the lower chamber is still running, so it's really a 1 fan system... but no fans in upper chamber, so CPU, GPU and North bridge cooling is totally passive now. Highest temperature under 100% CPU load would be CPU Core at 72C. D...

I'm not sure if I calculate the power right... I do it by Amp reading i get from Everest. loading CPU makes them go from 6A to 24A, loading FPU changes 6A to 30A. But what are the voltages for each?

Couple of thoughts about your list:
- Change the MB to H55 series and you can forget the extra GPU (and extra heat it produces) and use onboard graphics of the i7.
- Change your case fan to SPCR recommended 12cm

I agree with parappaman, such a performance can't be built dead silent. However, you have your needs for the efficiency - so the best help you can get from SPCR forums is how to make it as quiet as possible. In general, systems that idles with <50W and use at max 200W can be built dead silent. Your ...
