A 32 bit OS like vista has 4GB address space available. In this space all available RAM is mapped, therefore if you have 4GB ram, the address space is completely used. However: A lot of hardware uses memory addresses for memory mapped IO. The hardware claims a piece of this address space. If the cpu...

The source of the interference could be your cable that you use to transport the data. If that one is lying close to a power cable of such a thing, "strange things" like interference could happen. Further more, I don't know if it is possible to power 2 display devices if vga cards are running crossf...

Well, the problem is that it indeed takes a hell of a time before the entire google page is loaded. I tried wireshark and looked if I could figure out what is happening. I captured everything happening between the start of the google question and the end of the pageload. It is remarkable that every ...

It modifies Google result pages and adds "OK/NotOK" icons to every link. This costs an incredible amount of bandwidth and I find if verrryyy annoying!. Just out of curiosity: how does this cost "an incredible amount of bandwidth"? I'd guess it only checks the domain names against a list that it has...

You can disable this functionality luckily, else I would get rid of the entire virus scanner as well. Besides that is runs still beautiful as always...

32bit windows has 4gb address space. A lot of hardware uses an peace of this address space for memory mapped IO. If the processor writes to a specific memory address, in stead of writing to the memory, it writes to the specific hardware. In the early days when pc's had a couple of megabytes ram, thi...

I don't have any clue about the problem or the solution but there is one thing which you can change which isn't 100% correct if you ask me. The spin up time from 1 hard disk is at least 10 seconds, as long as it takes to bring the drives up to full rpm. The huge power draw from the spin up continues...

I still find a lot of things I want to silence, but for now I don't invest in my computer for a while, I don't want it to be a thing which eats money. Now I sometimes silence other things as well, like noisy table-fan's. :D In stead of a local tornado through my room moving all papers lying around, ...

Don't forget, the fan is for the cooling of the PSU. Slower fans often produce less air-flow, and with that less cooling. Without enough cooling the PSU can overheat, so be careful, it's not only the noise a fan makes, but also the airflow which is important. But the fan installed should be able to ...

Windows vista throttles down the cpu by default. Windows XP does this by default when you select "minimal power usage" (or something like that) in the power configuration in the control panel. This works when you have an Intel c2d processor, This features is called EIST (Enhanced Intel Speed Step). ...

you can disassemble the push-pins without destroying them as described in the picture, you need to bend back a plastic tab and then they come apart in 2 pieces one either side of the metal bracket. You can also do this by turning the black "thingies" against the arrows on it, (90 degrees),they will...
