On page 3, in the noise test comparison table, the power consumption numbers for the Velociraptor seem to be wrong and appear to be a copy of the numbers for the 3.5" Raptor at the bottom of the table. From your test here they should be 3.9W, 5.7W and 6.2W: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article844-p...

Contrary to the marketing-speak, these aren't unique to Inno3D; EVGA has one too, at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130485 According to VR-Zone, it's another reference design which nVidia calls the "Green Edition": http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-to-roll-out-chea...

While fairly quiet to me, my system no doubt didn't qualify for "SPCR-quiet approval" but I could never hear the fan of the 8800GTS above anything else in the machine either. A chart at X-bit Labs shown on the following page shows the GTX to be about 70W at idle versus 57.5 for a 640MB GTS: http://w...

I have one that I haven't gotten to use yet. From comparing the cards, it's the same cooler as on the 8800GTS (640MB and 320MB versions). It's possible the fan may be programmed differently for the GTX though so could be louder. I think these old coolers, which used Delta fans, are better qua...

I have no experience to add, but will mention that some motherboards won't work with the older stepping of the Q6600 due to the higher power requirements. Good luck finding a B3? It was just a note of something to be aware of. I have no idea what one might still find in stores but it's better to be...

I won't be overclocking though. Said the OP. So after that, why is he still getting all these non-helpful recommendations based on how well a particular quad is suited to overclocking? :( I have no experience to add, but will mention that some motherboards won't work with the older stepping of the ...

Re: Intel DP43TF motherboard questions (P43)
Page 55 shows the VRMs as a "localized high temperature zone" and warns that they must have air flow. A tower heatsink wouldn't do that. Sure it will if the heatsink has a fan on it, plus the rear case fan will provide airflow. While they do blow down, it's not like Intel's OEM heatsinks really cov...

Perhaps there's some difference between the two boards, or maybe it only works the newer version of PDVD?

The Delta AFB0212M runs at 2450 RPM and is a ball-bearing fan; their fans are high quality. Delta has a reputation for noisy fans, but I think really that's because they are best known for high-speed/high-airflow fans used in servers etc. I don't have the same standards for low noise as most posters...

In the recommended list for the HR-01 plus, it says: HR-01X variant with different hardware allows free rotation of mounting position on AM2 for correct fan position. This isn't quite correct.
