I used to have a S939 3000+ (dunno the name of the core..) and I ran it passively with Thermaltake Sonic tower. I think you could crab one of those for cheap now. There was a 120 mm quiet fan on the back of the case and the PSU was sucking air from the CPU. Can't remember the temps, but they were we...

Dunno why Nexus has jumped to the swamp of low-priced cases :( To me that looks exactly like most cheap cases, holes everywhere, drive cages riveted in place etc. If you're looking to go the Nexus-way then I'd suggest you to get Caterpillar over that. It has no dust filters, but atleast to me it see...

I have really hard time believing blocking the holes would cause any issues. I just can't come up with any reasons why a HDD would want to breath. Maybe the spinning disks create a larger pressure there and suction to some direction so the top would bend and... and... What the heck it's not like the...

AFAIK Aluminum indeed dissipates heat better than copper (I think CNPS7000Al-Cu was better than Cu), so that's main purpose is to be BLING. About the price and weight. Normal Ninja costs 47 € here, which is around $70, so the price of the copper version is nothing to cry about. And about the weigh...

I think the power supply in the Metku.net review may have been somehow defective. I did some research and other review claimed the PSU to be quiet and the CPU-cooler to make all the noise! And the PSU-manufacturer claims the unit has temperature controlled fans, but according to my experiences the n...

The table shows that while the HX520 isn't the quietest (at loads under 150 W or so) the fan of it doesn't ramp up even at 300 W load. And that's what's important considering your build. While the 300 W load is a walk in the park for the Corsair unit, it's already almost 75% load for the ~400 W PSUs...

I've tested Zalman HD160, HD135, Antec Fusion and a couple of HTPC-cases from GMC and based on these the Fusion is pretty superb for quiet setups... The HD160 comes second with it's two fans on the back panel, but I didn't like the HDD-area at all. On HD135 the HDDs were easier to install, but the c...

I think this article was on the front page just a while ago. http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=5&artpage=3071&articID=635 Personally I haven't noticed a difference, but then again I haven't actually paid attention either. The differencies on the madhshrimps-test are pretty noticeabl...

There is already another topic about this card . The difference in performance will most likely not be anything special. The 8800GT's poor memory interface will make it still struggle at high resolutions. An editor of bit-tech said it might show more on SLI-systems, but I can't say anything about th...

Weird.. I thought P3s aren't that hot running. Maybe it's some earlier model? I have (had, actually, not in use ATM) a server that had a P3 passively cooled by the original heatsink! It was underclocked, sure, but the heatsink is so small compared to that VF-900. I don't remember the original clock ...
