Re: Corsair H110i AIO Cooler - Noise Reduction Question
Since you have a dual fan radiator cooling only the CPU, I doubt you'll need the extra RPM of the 1500s. Two 1200s should do the job on their own.

Re: Corsair H110i AIO Cooler - Noise Reduction Question
I'm going to buy a set of Noctua fans now and give them a try. In terms of reducing pump speeds, do you have a link to any guides on how to do that? I don't think the pump is making much noise after checking yesterday but would still be good to know. Looks like that pump uses a SATA power connector...

Re: Mistakenly bought PWM case fans. Options?
Except FanXpert doesn't let you choose which temperature probe is used to set the fan control. That is its only flaw against an aging Speedfan. I can't comment on FanXpert but the ASUS UEFI lets you specify which sensor to use for each fan. The only flaw is that there isn't really a good sensor to ...

Re: Corsair H110i AIO Cooler - Noise Reduction Question
I was monitoring it yesterday, RPM on quiet profile was between 850-950. It was more in the 900's and that was when I was on my desktop not doing much. Someone said I can create custom profiles but I'm not really sure how to do that and I'm scared of cooking my CPU, especially during gaming. Maybe ...

I second those Noctua recomendations.
I'm running 4 140mm PWM Nocutas on my system and I never hear them except for the initial spin-up when I press the power button.

Re: Quiet cooler for Socket 479?
How a bout a (used) Northbridge cooler? They were pretty common back when nvidia still made chipsets, I don't now if they're still available new. They should have the proper mounting hole distance, most used two push pins for installation. If I remember correctly I used a cooler like that in a S478...

Re: Case help please
Thanks again for your reply The main thing that I am concerned about is gpu cooling and fan placement. I know that I can install two fans in the front and one at the rear, do you think I will require any at the sides. I don't believe you'll need side cooling, the dual intakes at the front should be...

Re: Help with first build - Ncase M1
Awesome, thanks guys! Makes a lot of sense. Going back to the CPU cooler for a sec, Fire-Flare had suggested the NH-L12 or Samuel 17 instead of the CH-14. Both those options look good to me. However, out of curiosity, was the reason for this small space / fit issues or something else? Yes, it was b...

Re: Got BRIX Pro, now need DIY help
Thanks but a hole saw is too round! It should be a square hole about 8cm square and the corners need to be very precise to avoid destroying the power button. I'm really wondering what a "professional diy" person is called so I can look one up! Ah, I'm not exactly sure myself. But if it were me, I'd...

Do you have a drill?
I'd use a hole saw for the big hole then drill mounting holes for the fan.

Re: Quiet cooler for Socket 479?
Socket 479 is different from Socket 478. I'm not entirely sure that a Socket 478 cooler would fit Socket 479 as it is an unusual socket to be replacing a cooler on as they were predominately found in laptops. Googling does show some motherboards with 4 hole mounting CPU coolers. What is the hole sp...

Re: Case help please
I think that case will be perfect then.
A 1070 will fit in that case with room to spare. And as for a CPU cooler, I would advise a Prolimatech Genesis with 140mm Noctua fans. It gives you the best features of top-down and tower coolers, and it was the quietest air-cooler I ever used.

Question: - With the Accelero Extreme (or any after market GPU cooler), how does fan control typically work? I'm wondering if the fan speed scales up or down with GPU temperature like the stock coolers on some cards? I'm intrigued as the stock coolers on some cards turn the fans off at low GPU temp...

Re: Mistakenly bought PWM case fans. Options?
Thanks guys, The Gigabyte board I have (old G33 platform) has very limited BIOS settings for fans. Any type of automatic fan speed setting risked having the fan not spin, so I would have to leave it on full blast. I do plan on getting a new motherboard (Skylake) soon, so I might get one that has PW...

Re: Mistakenly bought PWM case fans. Options?
PWM fans won't be harmed in any way if they're run off a 3-pin header or undervolted.
I don't see why they wouldn't spin on your board, (unless the initial setting is too low?) but I suppose you could use a pointy object to extract the 4th pin and see if they'll work as 3-pin fans.

Quiet cooler for Socket 479?
Yeah, it's an older socket, but I've come across a Pentium M board that I want to use in a retro setup without using its 40mm screamer.
Any of you know another cooler that might fit on its 4 mounting holes?

Thanks! That's really interesting! A couple of follow ups: 1) If I was to use the Twin Turbo but not use the backplate to get more PSU room, then would it matter if I had a short card vs a regular length one (e.g. does the fact that its a smaller card mean componets are closer together and therefor...

I don't have ANY complaints about my Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2's BIOS fan control. IIRC I can individually control every header except the CPU OPT. (I haven't needed to change anything in over a year)

I found the webpage that shows which processors and memory have been successfully tested in your computer: http://global.shuttle.com/products/prod ... uctId=2007
Sadly, your memory isn't on there.
As for M.2, it's just an accessory slot. It doesn't need to be populated.

Re: Shuttle XH110V assembly
Missing or unrecognized memory usually causes what you described.
It might not be seated properly or for some finicky reason it may not be compatible with your motherboard.
Try each module on its own in both slots. Perhaps one module is bad.
If that also fails try different memory.

Re: New cpu fan for my noctua heat sink
Noctuas are already pretty quiet, but if you want to improve the cooling power you could strap a low-speed 140mm model on there. Assuming it would fit in your chassis, it should reach more fin area than the 120 in the same quiet RPM range. This one is their slowest 140mm PWM model: http://noctua.at/...
