Before I silenced my computer I could hear it while watching television in the living room 12 meters away, 2 doors and 1 brick wall between. Yeah it was pretty bad.

Yes
'
X800 Pro = 58 W
X800 XT Platinum = 75 W

The X800 XT is less powerhungry than the 9800 XT

I bet the budget version of the R420 series will have low enough wattage to keep it cool enough with a Zalman heatsink. The X800 Pro runs 58 w at load. I dont know how much Zalman can take but the ~40-50 w of the GF Ti-4xxx series is no problem for it, so I would wait for the X800 Se or whatever its...

Actually Nvidia sold 23 million units last year, if just 1% needs a good HSF sollution Arctic would have a hell of a market.

I measured the heatsink and found it to be 9-10 cm radius, dunno if thats enuf. Another prob with 120mm is the engine house being better than the 92 mm one, you might loose some airflow over the most essential part of the heatsink...

Yep, I trust my tape, I tested it by taping two pieces of heavy iron together and shaking them like a madman, the tape held them together, so I trust it to the lightweight plastic fan.

The surface area between the fan and the heatsink is where you put it.

Heres what I did: 1) Ordered the Acoustifan 92 mm version for 20$. 2) Dismounted the stock fan from the Heatsink. 3) Cut the Acoustifan out of its frame. 4) Used 3 pieces of 4mm foam doubleside tape to "softmount" the new fan to the heatsink. (Tape cost me 1$) And there you go, the vibrations should...

I'm getting it anyways, that and a 6800 Ultra (or the R420 if its good).

Or a Pool table..

I need a good review with comparison between Pool table and new video card :S

Zalman+6800 U is about the same price as a good pool table. Anyone got some experience on this matter :D?

Apparently it's no hassle, Zalman will send you a new one asap, but I recommend you just do the softmount fan replace mod once and for all. The "click" seems to be a Very common disease for the stock fan.

Not to mention the pretty pictures and witty comments.

The ~170 Watt setup is taken care of in pretty good fashion, maybe with some improvements to pump and tubing it will be able to cool the Prescott/6800 U volcanic setup.

Whats everyones take on this?

Until I hear of accidents, I'm not going to fear those heavy heatsinks TBH. It doesnt take much effort to relieve the motherboard of the weight with some lace and chewbubblegum.

Watercooled NB? Hmm whats up with all the NB cooling going on? I had a noisy little fan spinning 4-5000 rpm that I just turned off. And I havent had a single problem ever since. The tiny heatsink underneath the fan does fine. Even when running Sim City 4 with BurnIt in the background :] System: P4 P...

I will recommend the Acoustifan 92mm, I plugged it in my Zalman 7000, softmounted and its more quiet than the stock and cools better thanks to the thermistor which I personally recommend you use, put it whereever you want in the chassis for the amount of cooling you think you need.
