Yes, it just freezes for two seconds before continuing. I did format the harddisk and did a fresh install of Windows 2000. Will try some other games. BTW I didn't know that for any game you play the CPU will be used 100% no matter how fast the CPU and the graphics card are or how simple the game is....

New "to be silenced" 9800 pro broken?
The observation: In my new computer (NF7-s with Barton 2500 and pc 3200 ram) I've just installed a new Sapphire 9800 pro card but when I play "Colin McCrae rally 2" the game still sometimes freezes for a moment just as it did on the old GeForce 2 pci card. I checked the values in MBM5 and the CPU us...

Here's an update on my experience with memtest: Since my last post the program has been running for 48 hours and not one single failure :D . So the settings are stable and I can start some torturetests on the rest of the system. I think I'll try Prime95. Have to do a little research to find out if t...

Looks like you're getting millions and millions of errors if that's all that's showing on your screen. There's a key that toggles between "scroll" and "non-scroll". I keep it set at "non-scroll" so I can see the main part of the Memtest86 screen. So what do you do about your memory errors? - Go int...

Now.....if memory serves my right, I've had this same problem when I first started using memtest86 a few years ago As it turned out, it was just a corrupt diskette. I'd suggest finding another floppy diskette from somewhere and try again. Thank you very, very much. That put me on the right track. H...

You needed the computer for a band recording??? You have your priorities all mixed up. You should run the memory test forever. That is the only way you will know that your computer is functioning properly. Sorry for getting my priorities wrong. I will apologise humbly to my computer and promise it ...

It's 86+, version 1.11 Pre-Compiled package for floppy so the updated version. It didn't look anything like it :( . It looked like this: 0400 1000 0400 0400 0400 0400 1000 Not in this particular order and the numbers were running on the left-side of the screen from bottom to top. The rest of the scr...

memtest: How long?
I've just finished putting together my first computer and, as was suggested a few times in these forums, tried running memtest to check if everything is working. Running the program from floppy my screen showed endless rows of 0400's and 1000's. I started at 10 pm and at 4 pm the following day that ...

Peeke, I don't own the Abit... but there is more to it than just having the required holes. Since the heatsink is quite large, it presses against the surrounding capacitors on certain motherboards. In some cases, the capacitors won't even allow the proper mounting of the heatsink. Thanks, thats a q...

Does anyone know if the Zalman 7000A-AlCu an Cu are compatible with the ABIT nf7-s motherboard? The Zalman site says they are not but I can't imagine why, it has the required four mountingholes AFAIK. Any owners of that board, or others, out there who can clarify this? Want to put my 13th month sala...

Steering on topic again: A friend of mine works in a lab and he has succesfully tried dampening noise and vibration using birdsseed. Because it consists of particles of various weight and size it can absorb a very wide range of frequencies. If you pack it in smal(ler) sized rectangular bags you can ...
