Does anyone know a source? Can't find one so far. Having just paid over $50 in brokerage fees and taxes to UP-ripoff-S to bring a Silenx PSU up from the US, I don't want to go through that again!

The new Maxtor Diamondmax Pro 9 SATAs have been reviewed elsewhere, and these use a fluid bearing system that the reviewers claim is quiet, but who knows.... Very interesting - given the noise concerns with the high-end video cards these days you would think manufacturers would be a lot more circumspect about using cheap thermal goop. Anyone know what is used with a 9800 Pro? Or what type of thermal interface is shipped with the Zalman passive video cool...

Just be aware that you void that warranty by stripping off the heatsink pad.... a big advantage of the 3.06G; it ships with paste, no pad, so substituting another paste won't kiss your warranty goodbye....

I've seen in other forums comments about problems in signal integrity with rounded EIDE cables - I'd avoid 'em like the plague for mission-critical work. Apparently rounding removes some mandated barrier between the data-carrying channels - don't remember the details.

Unfortunately, like a few other low-noise 400W PSUs, it has relatively low capacity on the +12v rail for a 400 watt supply, only 15A. Some 350 watt supplies are better than this.... in fact it's no better than their own 300W unit!

It's still going to be much louder than the 7200.7. Whether the extra 10-15% performance will be worth all the extra noise I guess is a personal choice. Plus I expect this 10,000 rpm WD will be one very pricey (for an IDE) drive.
