I updated the temps with stress tests (Orthos). After 1.5 hours of an undervolted stress test the temperatures more or less stabilize, 57 degrees for the CPU. When not undervolted the system heats up quicker, all the way up to 63 degrees for the CPU. Which is quite high, I believe. On the other hand...

I'd suggest putting feet on the case (rubber tipped) or a bottom chamber open to the rear- and have a fan,120 mm and 500 rpm,in the floor. Then you don't need the side hole. Furthur...using a Ninja on a Lima or Sparta single core 65nm may let you run the CPU cooler fanless. Noise from the fan/HDD w...

I had some time to test the temperatures in my wood prototype today. As could be seen on the pictures above, I have one large venting hole of 8 cm across above the CPU, on both sides there's two small 3 cm venting holes, and the PCI brackets in the back also let some air through. I tried a few diffe...

One the one hand it's good to reuse your old PSU, on the other it probably isn't very efficient. I would recommend an Antec 380W EarthWatts or else a 120W PicoPSU if you think of replacing the 350W. Maybe you can also get a mobo with the relatively new 7025/7050 nVidia chipset. Boards by Abit, Biost...

is that with or without undervolting (BIOS/RMClock)? That's with RMClock undervolting. People have obtained similar results with this board, and the Abit AN-M2 boards are also very efficient. I will test the Gigabyte board I mentioned, compare it to its Geforce 6100-predecessor and then report. But...

Thanks for the great pieces of advice, ronrem! I've got some great news in relation to that. Earlier in the thread I briefly mentioned my next door neighbor who is a furniture maker/carpenter. This morning I went over to him to borrow some tools as I was screwing things up mildly. When he saw my pro...

Re: My BE-2350 makes these sounds too
I have bought new BE-2350 X2 processort and it whines too !!! Before this BE-2350 I was using Athlon64-3000 with no whine. I'm very disappointed with it, as I am running completly passive machine. Is it whining all the time? With me it was like a screech of half a second during startup and a contin...

The wood parts are more or less finished (I'll do the lid later). I drilled some ventilation holes as well. This is not the best wood to work with. It chips easily and is already slightly bent, but it has a great feel and look. http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/8436/s5020928yt1.th.jpg It's quite a ...

Thanks for the entries, RedAE102 and St.Apostol! On a sidenote, does anyone know of a program that can change FSB and CPU voltage according to system load, on a Gigabyte P35-DS3? I'd like to bring power consumption down a little, while still maintaining overclocking potential. Wasn't CrystalCPUID a ...

It turned out that Lenovo recently opened a factory in Pondicherry, 10 miles from where my friend's father is living. B) But now that he doesn't have to take anything with him by plane he's considering buying a desktop. That would be better than a laptop considering the heat and humidity, right? I r...

on the plus side, amazing idle wattages! did you see that thread where the guy couldn't get consumption under 50W? your max wattage is the same as his lowest wattage  I was quite amazed when reading that. That guy should definitely spend more time on SPCR. I'm guessing there may be some bios/m...

Might be a bad fan or a coil or Cap on the mobo. There's not much history of a CPU making noises though it might be a factor in the mobo making a noise. One more thing I forgot to mention: Every time the sound occurred, power consumption shot up by 10 watts. When I left the computer on for a while ...

From the Peloponnese to the Philippines: I had the opportunity to test the Sempron 3200+ and recent LE-1100 with exactly the same setup. I figured I'd post my results for people who find this kind of stuff interesting. Here's a head-to-head . Power Consumption: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/800...

From a manufacturing point of view, both of the above reply's are spot on, its just not easy or cost effective as it takes so long. I know it isn't but I just want to see how long it takes me to build one. If I could make it in one day I would make about the same amount of money I do with my regula...

Another Wood Case - update: Temps
I've been thinking about making a wood case for a long time now and finally decided to give it a go. I will post my proceedings here so people can have a look and advise me here and there (I haven't worked out a few things yet), but most of all: I want to have this done by the end of the month and p...

A friend of mine asked me to look for a laptop for his father who lives in Southern India (Tamil Nadu). It can get very hot and moist over there, with those monsoons and all. Recently I advised someone else to buy a Toshiba Satellite L30-10T, but over here it's much cooler. Do people in South-East A...

This might be it: The sound became less and less yesterday. In the evening I decided to try and undervolt the BE-2350 because somehow it didn't work before whatever I tried, of course causing numerous freezes. So I gave it a few more tries, but every time I had everything running stable and exited R...

Well, I was just about to write I didn't hear the sound today (except for half a second at startup) when suddenly I heard it again. Funny moment, hehe. I took all the stuff out of the case this morning, but still couldn't pinpoint the exact location of the sound. But it's somewhere in the space betw...

Are you really truly sure the noise is coming from the processor ? I've never heard of such a thing. I mean, maybe it's the VRM components, the PSU, or.... but the CPU??? No, I'm not sure at all. It's hard to pinpoint a sound with all those components close together. :) I did swap the PicoP...

BE-2350 whine
I'm not 100% sure but I think my BE-2350 is making a whining sound at startup, or rather a short screeching whine, a bit like a small parrot. I installed it on the mobo about two months ago, tested and then left it in a half open box. The thing is the air is very moist where I live and I'm a bit afr...
