It should be compatible. Might need to check if there's any different mounting hardware required, not sure. I put a Ninja rev. B (I think) on an AM2 board no problem.

All that horsepower, and a green drive? And XP?

Mid-range graphics should be your best bet then: on the Nvidia side 9600 series, ATI side probably 4600 series.

As far as RAID goes, WHS does not support software based RAID. You could do hardware level, but it is most likely looking for trouble. What it does on the first disk, there will be a 20GB partition for the system, and the rest will be for storage. You can add additional drives to the system for stor...

I would put my faith in the KAW before a regular consumer-level UPS. But yeah, maybe some testing this weekend with some light bulbs would be a good verification of the thing. Throw some low watt CFLs at it, and the 150W 3 way lamp also.

flapane Frankly say, there is no such thing like 3D power mode or 2D power mode , at modern ATI cards e.g. Just a High GPU' Usage or Low GPU' Usage . No distinction whether it is 3D, or 2D, or anything else, an HDMI connected e.g. So don't bother that much with. At last you can tweak the BIOS with ...

actually, as far memtest goes, get memtest86+ and burn it to cd or floppy and boot from it, it tests pretty much all the memory that way, if it was running in Windows, well most of the memory is already in use.

good luck and glad you got it part way sorted out. Now backup those files!

Don't trust any other site for noise. Not if you want really quiet. This is true. I think a small, fairly low-powered mATX system should give you the best bang for buck and future options. The last list of options is pretty good, though I'm still on the fence about x86/x64 myself. It seems like thi...

yeah mATX you can still fit fans inside :)

They are just *shorter*, they have less expansion slots. See if any of your Photoshop work can be video-card accelerated, I think the Nvidias can help with that. I think an Intel (dual?) and Nvidia card might work good but you will want to research that.

Well, the later 3 are all laptop drives, so they should consume less power and most likely be as quiet if not more than the Blue. Points for AMD--cheaper total cost, generally better integrated graphics (which are plenty good enough for your needs). Points for Intel--faster overall, get some modern integrated graphics (X4500 HD I think?) and you will, again, be just fine. If you don't need all the expansion slots, a mATX board...

Couple observations so far: can't wait for WHS to be updated to the newer (Vista/W7/Server08) codebase. The older stuff really just does not like changes to hardware that the newer stuff can handle much better. The ancient 250GB Seagate I put in needs to be replaced first, Speedfan did it's little S...

Aren't the ATI cards destroying Nvidia's cards at comparable price points though? That seems to be the general idea I get from all these reviews--although I don't read them that thoroughly, as I am way out of them budget wise (I stick under $100 usually). I basically buy ATI cards for a few reasons:...
