Hmm, quiet PC, and 19 hard drives. Conflict of interest anyone? haha This is NZXT's second go at a quiet case, the Hush was the first. Shame that unlike Antec, NZXT keep the crazy bright Blue LEDs on their quiet cases, kind of ruins the effect really. The pair of 80mm fans above the PSU is an intere...

One of my housemates purchased a terabyte greenpower, and it turned out to be a WD10EAVS, which I'd never heard of. Any info on how these compare? It was pretty good, certainly very low vibration and airborne hiss, but it did have a single tonal pitch to it probably around the 19-20dB mark, which ca...

I'm actually quite impressed with the 140mm Streamliners. At maximum speed in my friend's PC they must be producing 27dB at the most, and the vast majority of that is turbulence noise from the radiator he uses them to cool, there is no click/hiss/grid whatsoever from them, I suspect because they use...

http://i37.tinypic.com/2nio5jn.jpg Is this of genuine concern? Most people I Ask who don't own the drive say it's a SMART error, and therefore I should RMA the drive. However, there seems to be widespread discussion about a possible misdiagnosis due to unrecognised information via certain chipsets....

Several queries regarding HD4000 series
Hi there, eventually I will need to upgrade from my solo HD3870, since I run 2560x1600, and the 4800 series cards are unquestionably the ones to buy for the moment. However, I have numerous reservations about using one (or more likely, eventually two), primarily noise. a) I know the stock coolers ru...

Well, after spending considerable time attaching an Accelero S1 rev2 to my HD3870, it no longer works. Removing the cooler again showed me why - the core has been cracked in the corner. Very disappointing considering the delicacy I used during the archaic installation procedure (plastic clips? come ...

To be fair, I don't really want to fan mod a PSU, as easy as it may be. In any case, I found out the Zm600-HP is nowhere near as good as the KW unit, and almost similtaneously found a cheap HX 620W at play.com, albeit it may be a few weeks before I get one since it's out of stock. Why the 620W? Why ...

Hi there, I've just read the review of the ZM-1000-HP and have been very impressed. I'm not the sort of retard who feels he needs a 1KW PSU, however so I have no intention of shelling out anywhere near that much money. However, having owned a Thermaltake Toughpower 750W for a while I would ideally l...

Thanks for the reply thejamppa. It's interesting that you say the Accelero S1 coolers work better in low airflow environments, I hadn't even considered them. Cheap though they are, I'd sooner not have to do any bending or cutting with the heatsinks, however simple as I'm not really the most dextrous...

Hi again, I've been using a pair of HD3870s in Crossfire for a month or two now, and have had about the level of success I was expecting getting the performance out of it. However, a few weeks back I suddenly noticed that the second card needed a very large fan speed increase to remain stable when i...

Hi there, I currently use a Thermaltake Toughpower 750W PSU (complete overkill I know, wish I'd known when I bought it). In my current config, the fan rarely ramps up even when gaming, but at its idle speed it's not exactly what you'd call silent, I'd hazard a guess at 25-27dB at 1m. Consequently, I...

My Dell 3007WFP makes that noise at a reasonable volume (i'd guess above 25dB), but only at maximum brightness, down it just one level and the noise pretty much disappears. it also makes a different noise when you change resolutions (a hissing noise, kind of like a gas leak!) and when you turn it of...

Ace temps for such a high power GPU. The Nexus fan always concerned me, what with it being a sleeve bearing fan, vertically mounted onto a heat source, seemed like a double suicide. What sort of case ventilation do you have? I would like an 8800GTX/Ultra, but only if I can HR-03 Plus it using quiet ...

I actually use a Toughpower unit. From the power supply perspective they're good, since they're just rebadged ChannelWell units. SilentPC perspective, they're pretty rubbish since either the fan or the way its mounted is useless. At high speed (but therefore loud, and high speed is how the PSU runs ...

To make you buy the more expensive product :P At least there are plenty of silent options out there for mid-range performers. Try running a PC with a 30" monitor (that means 2560x1600 gaming) silently. Not easy, especially when the monitor itself makes more electrical noise than a silent case fan. T...
