It should be possible to reverse the airflow direction with a custom adapter to flip the fan around. I have created the duct I mentioned in my first post of this thread, so my CPU fan pulls air directly from the outside. Because the CPU fan no longer just recycles air, my temperatures are lower than...

I have a Cooler Master Wave Master. I recently applied black electical tape along the inside edge of each side panel. This way, the panels make no metal-to-metal contact with the rest of the case. It does sound better. Also, if I knock on the side, it does not rattle anywhere near as much as before ...

http://members.cox.net/clemente39/images/cpu/panaflozalman.jpg Here is my Zalman with the Panaflo installed. You can see the wires as they connect to the fan and where I cut that part with a fine jewelers' saw. It is a simple mod - just drill the two small mounting holes into the bottom of the fan ...

I think these drives simply report the temperature too low. The drive reports higher temperatures as I reduce my cooling. I don't think it has anything to do with controller issues. We probably just need to set the temperature compensation value in Motherboard Monitor. My motherboard is an Intel D87...

The separate air paths look like they would work for very hot running systems with many hard drives. It just looks louder for a person like me. I have one hard drive (I don't like having multiple hard drives, except for an external backup-only drive). My PSU is perfectly happy exhausting case air fr...

My Samsung's temperature definitely goes up if I turn of case fans (such as the one directly in front of the drive.) If it reports 30, it "feels like" 40. I wonder how many people are happy with their drive operating at 40C when it is really much higher... Wow, right now my drive is showing 10C. Amb...

The faster speeds of today's computers just isn't enough for a lot of people. I know a lot of people who are perfectly happy with their old computers. Zalman 7000A AlCu modded w/ completely different fan
Just for fun, I thought I'd try a different fan on my Zalman 7000A-AlCu. I had a spare Nexus Real Silent 80mm fan, which I removed from the fan frame. I drilled two small holes on the bottom so I could mount it just like the stock Zalman fan. While I was at it, I also used two Silica Gel washers fro...

I turned off my front case fan an my Samsung's temperature definitely went up, but the drive is hotter than it was reporting (as expected since it reports temperatures too low). Those of you who have this drive reporting 30's and higher should touch their drives to make sure they aren't getting frie...

I defragmented the hard drive and it is still showing 16C even after being on for two hours. Woah, wait a second - I left the computer and came back to see it is now showing 14C (same 22.5C room temp). So the temperature reading does change... I wonder what the temperature really is... The drive is ...

Samsung Spinpoint temperature WAY too low??
I am running DTemp which is telling me my new SATA Samsung Spinpoint is operating at 16C/60F.
This can't be right. Ambient temperature (outside of the case) is about 22.5C.
Also, the HD temperature never changes. It is always 16C.
Does this drive even have a temperature sensor?

Are these Samsung Spinpoints known to run incredibly hot? Not so long ago I replaced a one-year-old Maxtor 7200RPM 80GB PATA drive with a Maxtor 7200RPM 80GB SATA drive. The SATA drive ran 10C hotter, and I could verify it was much hotter to the touch. The short warranty time for the new drive bothe...

Actually, it is closer to 100 holes. Still, they are small... Another problem I've found is that the area between these ventilation holes and the fans is not sealed. There are plenty of openings that allow the fans to merely circulate air rather than pull fresh air through the front holes! I'm sure ...

I am surprised by the results. Most of you can't hear the faintest noise from your machine less than 2 meters away? I can hear a single 7v Panaflo L1A from across the room.
