It should be possible to reverse the airflow direction with a custom adapter to flip the fan around. I have created the duct I mentioned in my first post of this thread, so my CPU fan pulls air directly from the outside. Because the CPU fan no longer just recycles air, my temperatures are lower than...

I have a Cooler Master Wave Master. I recently applied black electical tape along the inside edge of each side panel. This way, the panels make no metal-to-metal contact with the rest of the case. It does sound better. Also, if I knock on the side, it does not rattle anywhere near as much as before ...

I ran my PSU externally from my Shuttle SS51G - temperatures were about the same (slightly higher with external PSU).

I think these drives simply report the temperature too low. The drive reports higher temperatures as I reduce my cooling. I don't think it has anything to do with controller issues. We probably just need to set the temperature compensation value in Motherboard Monitor. My motherboard is an Intel D87...

My Samsung's temperature definitely goes up if I turn of case fans (such as the one directly in front of the drive.) If it reports 30, it "feels like" 40. I wonder how many people are happy with their drive operating at 40C when it is really much higher... Wow, right now my drive is showing 10C. Amb...

My fans sounded pretty bad when using the BIOS fan speed adjustment. They don't sound right at all. When controlled with Speedfan (on a Speedfan compatible motherboard), they make very little noise as expected.

Zalman 7000A AlCu modded w/ completely different fan

Just for fun, I thought I'd try a different fan on my Zalman 7000A-AlCu. I had a spare Nexus Real Silent 80mm fan, which I removed from the fan frame. I drilled two small holes on the bottom so I could mount it just like the stock Zalman fan. While I was at it, I also used two Silica Gel washers fro...

Samsung Spinpoint temperature WAY too low??

I am running DTemp which is telling me my new SATA Samsung Spinpoint is operating at 16C/60F.

This can't be right. Ambient temperature (outside of the case) is about 22.5C.

Also, the HD temperature never changes. It is always 16C.

Does this drive even have a temperature sensor?

Braiding wires does produce some very neat-looking wiring. I've done the same for some of my 3-pin fan tails.

If there are drawbacks to the technique, that would suck because I like it. :)
