To ECC or not to ECC, that's the question

Well, there's a lot of smart people here so I figured I'd get your input on this. I am a finance ph.d. and run a lot of math/statistical programs on my PC. Some of my data sets are several GB in size and I hope to have 8 gigs of RAM in my system at some point in the future. I've always gone back and...

The drive is actually going to go in a desktop. I currently have about 120gigs of photos/music I want to put on there so 80gigs of overhead would be great. I can always move everything to a 300+ gig drive down the road.

THanks,

Larger Capacity 2.5" drives when?

I was wondering if there's any time frame on 200/250 gig 2.5" drives... I wanted to use one for picture archieving but 160gig is a little too short for my taste..

Thanks,
Chris

No floppy connectors on my S12-430?!

I have a S12-430 I bought last summer. The instuction manual claims it has 2 floppy power connections. Newegg claims it has 2 floppy power connections. The SR review say it has 2 floppy connections. Either I've gone batty or this thing has 0 floppy power connections on it. Can anyone help me out?! D...

Thanks for the great work in this area. Is it possible to overclock at all with RMClock? I was thinking about getting a Core 2 Duo Mobile chip instead of the desktop for added power savings.
Does the speedstep still work if you adjust the voltage or FSB?

Impressive results on that chip. I wonder if most are like that.
Looks like 3.0ghz is the best performance/watt.

Nice power savings - imagine if they didn't put in the 7900. I wonder if you can do any small ocing on that board.

So I assume then it would like ECC ram. I know some boards you can put in ECC ram, but then the board doesn't actually utilize the ECC part. I don't want to spend the cash and then have no benefit. :)

It's unclear to me whether you can just put ECC ram in this board or if the board actually uses the ECC feature. Anyone know?

A little bump for this thread here. On the original stats, the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA is running a CD2 correct? I just want to make sure as the Duo Core laptop motherboards are using a origina CD right? Well, I accidently got a widescreen monitor for my wife... thinking it was 4:3 or whatever. In any case, not a big deal except the ol' onboard graphics only goes up to 1280x1024. I only have a PCI slot. Do the Radeon 9250 cards at the egg go up to 1440x900? Obviously, no gaming or anything here - ju...
