it'd be nice to know what ram you're running, and at what voltage and frequency.

i dont really see why you couldnt suspend six drives down there... though not having the case i dont know how much space there would actually be on either side of the drive if they arent in their caddys. do you think we could get a measurement? from the looks of it, p-clips and stretch magic would s...

Re: Lowest wattage RAM? Want to go below 3 watt system draw

there is low voltage (1.35v) ddr3, but im not sure if it comes in sodimms yet. on top of that, im not sure your laptop takes ddr3... or would even be willing to run it at that voltage. if you have two sticks of ram, removing one might do the trick.

im sorry if that doesnt help at all.

Post Script so then. it's very quiet. very quiet. i dont use automatic control in speedfan, as i dont like the curve. asrock does have a utility that i havent tried... but i'll stick with just leaving it 25%. the hard drive situation is... a situation. most of the time, i only need access to my hit...

Pictures Of It All Assembled! fully assembled. mounting the mugen was easy as it always is on amd. mounting the hr-05 was simple too. putting it all in the case? yeah, that was easy too. rub magnet on screwdriver, put screws into hard to reach places. no fuss at all. you can really see why i bought...

On To The Pics! first up is a look at the psu. soft mounted s-flex 1600rpm, rpm readout intact. normally between 400 and 550 rpm depending on load, and how many drives im spinning up (i have a few more 7200rpm drives that i plug in from time to time.) http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/8370/sam0521...

fuminos mini p180

The Back Story [tl;dr-scroll to next post for pics] I first started getting interested in silent computing a few years back. i was running a cooler master 341 and a generic psu. cheap flimsy panels, noisy fans, no space for extra hard drives... it was a terrible mess that rattled away for a long ti...

Re: Possible to underclock a i3 by BLCK@66MHz

power consumption is more effected by voltage, which its tough to beat SB at. though i wont lie, i have heard tell of people with celerons that sip single digit watts at idle. so for the cost savings too, it might be worth it to try that route.

Re: WD is buying Hitachi GST (Hard Drive Business)

not sure if i like this... the added capacity should help drive prices down even lower, and hitachis were generally priced much better than WDs. in therms of the raid friendliness i would hope that wd changes their catalog so that for 3.5" drives they'd have.. a basic green drive- 5k+ without fancy ...

Re: P180 mini or Define Mini? PSU?

i might be a bit biased, but i run a mini p180 with a mugen. when i was using my quad i left the case fans off and just used the cpu fan to make sure air was going through the mugen before it gently floated out the top. plus, the build quality is awesome. consider that this is the case puget uses fo...

Re: server case for Home PC

....What am I missing? Remember that server cases are not usually ideal for moving air quietly. The only reason they keep cool is they usually use a lot of high-speed fans... fan swap might be needed. i'd suggest grabbing some rubber or silicone case feet for it if you won't be rack mounting it. pr...

Re: Best replacement fan for [Corsair] 400CX?

another soft mounted 1600 RPM S-Flex user here. in the bottom of my mini p180, i practically have to put my ear to the exhaust hole to hear it. i kept the rpm lead out of the psu, generally get around ~420rpm under normal use; only increasing to ~500 rpm under heavy load(still under 200w at the wall).

Re: Which one is the best fan of these?

Not according to Scythe, the Scythe Slip Stream SY1225SL12LM-P uses sleeve bearing and not the FDB bearing. I would stick to the GT, Scythe Slip Stream fans have tons of reports of dying randomly or lasting only six months. http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/fans/slip-stream-120-pwm.html 100% acc...

For those intakes where a stock filter won't fit (e.g. above rear expansion slots, or an odd-sized hole), used dryer sheets will do the job. What is a dryer sheet? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+a+dryer+sheet%3F its a fabric sheet that you toss in your dryer to reduce static cling, some are scented t...

the Scythe Slip Stream SY1225SL12LM-P is different from the normal slipstreams in that it has a FDB, as opposed to the standard sleeve. it too(like the GT) can be mounted in any orientation. you can look up the stats in the scythe mugen review if you dont already know how quiet they can be. even if ...

looking at the orochi in the case i'd say a back panel fan would be pretty restricted in its airflow. not optimal at all. if anything i might say grab one of those new thermalright or noctua 140mm fans and slap it on the orochi.

Re: WD10EALX + Speedfan trouble

this isn't really a speedfan issue. you cant query SMART data for just a specific piece of info, you ask for smart data and the drive gives you it all. the issue arises in that some smart data is actually stored on the platters themselves, so every time there's a smart query, they've got to spin.

Re: Passive (Accelero S1 Rev. 2) Gigabyte Radeon HD6850

if youre not using the bottom hdd caddy, i would say that adding an intake fan would help.. the pci slot covers on the mini p180 are kinda open, so airflow out the back should be decent.
