In Australia, Glacialtech Silentblade 120 mm fans are similar in noise characteristics to the 120 mm Nexus, but cost only $9 AUD!

Isn't a Scythe Ninja a better HSF than the Zalman 9500 (when the fans are the same speed), so would be better for a quiet system?

With the Arctic Cooling Silencer ATI 5.2, I was able to get my core speed at 470 Mhz stabe, which is huge for an X800XL. I managed to get the RAM to 560, which is good also. I leave the fan on 15% when at idle temps (34C-36C), but let it go to 100% when at load (~52C). I play my games with sound, so...

Scythe Ninja v Thermalright XP120

I know the SPCR review said that the Ninja cooled about 2C cooler than the XP120, but how are people's own experiences, with a fan like a Nexus 120 mm or Glacialtech Silentblade 120 mm?

Also, how does the fan placement, being on the side, impact things?

http://legionhardware.com/document.php?id=466 Actually, I think that the AC Silencer cools better. The new models all come with a backplate which cools the RAM sinks too. As for what's quieter at idle (I don't mind if the fan is a audible when at load, as I'm usually playing an intensive game when I...

Asus CRW-5232A3B - Search for quietest fast CD/DVDRW drives

I'm currently using an Asus CRW 5232AX, however I'm unhappy with a clunking noise which it makes whenever I open and close the drive. Reading noise is only marginially quieter than my NEC 3520A, which is farily loud. The clunking noise annoys me most about my current drive, and I'm assuming that it'...

Has anyone seen reviews/comparisons between these two heatsinks where both HSFs are using the same fan (with same noise characteristics)?

Anyone got thoughts/opinions about the pros and cons of each?

Seasonic S12 500W & 600W - What's the practical differen

Both seem identical in terms of noise characteristics. The 600W PSU can obviously handle a higher load than the 500W PSU, however we know that PSUs will hardly even use more than 350W of power. However we also know that PSU's are hardly reliable in supplying up to their rated power (I wouldn't like ...

Slightly confused so far. Looked on websites, the NV 5.3 is rated at .9 sones while the ATI 5.2 is rated at .5 sones. Both fans look identical, with same speed (2000 RPM I think). Maybe AC's just being more honest now?

When you use the Zalman VGA cooler, is fan controlling software as effective as physically modding the fan to slow it down? (I've got an Arctic Cooling Silencer with ATI Tray Tools and I like very much how ATT controls the fan speed, which I configure to ramp with temperature).

Ths stability problems you mention also disturb me. I've read in many places about the freqency of problems with fanless PSU's breaking, even after only months of service. This may only be anecdotal evidence, but consider this: By removing an essential unit (a fan) for removing heat, the fanless PS...

OCZ Powerstream 520W SLI Ultra Quiet - Prospects?

I know it says 'Ultra Quiet' in its name, but knowing products designed for overclocking and high-end gaming, I somehow doubt its 'silent' credentials. http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=2789 Though I'd be interested in seeing a review of one of these things, in case I'm wrong.

My problem with the Phantom 500 (or 350W) is that it's performance isn't that stable when pushed. DFI Street aren't recommending Phantom 500 for systems using their Nforce 4 based motherboards. The S12 (500W or 600W) seems to be that compromise of power/stability/silence, though some people are havi...

What's the best way to control fan speed on a Nvidia card? I'm currently using an X800XL with ATI Tray Tools. It's a great way to control fan speed, setting fan speeds to go up as the temps increase. In terms of the wooshing noise, the Tricool might be a bit quieter than a Nexus at 12V, however the Tricool has much more motor noise, which is definitely more annoying. Also, the Nexus moves more air (though I've got 5 Nexus fans and 2 of them are faulty, as in make an annoying noise, don't really ...

So how would the Seasonic S12 type of PSU interract with an Antec P180 type case (where there is a isolated bottom chamber, where a fan can blow at the PSU). Well the 120mm fan would be doing absolutly nothing for a start. All the air moved would be due to the case mounted one. Which means you'll h...

Yeah, I know of the generalisation, but I know from experience that some optical drives are much noisier than others. My NEC 3520A is much louder than my old LG CDRW drive, and so on.

If anyone has had experiences with recent optical drives, and how loud/quiet they are, I'd like to hear.
