All I can think of is getting the PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 and putting a quieter fan in it. There is also a Turbo Cool 600, but I don't know the details. PC Power & Cooling PSU's ratings are taken at a higher temperature (40 C) than other PSU's - so even with less airflow, the 510 will deli...

Yes

Norton Anti-Virus does that.

I don't know if there was an option to stop it, since it's been a while since I had a floppy.

The zalman NB32 (not the NB32J, which is what you were looking at) is pure aluminum that weighs in at 42g. A little heavier. http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/67/cat67.htm?468 Its only $9US at 2cooltek . I currently have that heatsink on my video card. It is excellent. At $9, I'll see if I can get a ...

I sent both of mine Xpresspost - about $20 Canadian.

No problem.

Takes about a month, but once they get around to it, the RMA comes back UPS next day, so no "brokerage fees".

Sent 60GXP about a year ago, got 60GXP back. You may have better luck.

They are not particularly quiet, and if undervolted - even a bit - the LED's turn off.

They do seem around 25 dB(A), but that is too loud for me.

I have some GlobeFan "Clear Fans".

They are loud - I think about 25 dB(A) - but have a good clean sound, which makes them tolerable.

They don't volt down well - L1A's and Stealths are still better.

Check this out for the ultimate mod: http://www.modthebox.com/review41_1.html Also, I think I saw someone mount an Enermax PSU (fan guard removed because it otherwise won't fit), and no fan on the CPU heatsink, so the Enermax fan sucked the hot air of the heatsink. Whatever you do, post some pics. I...

Wow-I'm really suprised that heat didn't become an issue! Did you have a fan blowing on the drive? If so, which one? I have 2 drives....you think I'd achieve nearly the same results even though I'd have to mount 2 drives (I'd just use the same piece of foam and mount them a couple of inches apart)....

Re: New approach to "quieting" the monster 15000rp

Ok, everyone knows that 15000 are A. LOUD and B. H-O-T. So, the problem is that usually when you make them quiet that means putting something (rubber, foam, etc) around the drives - causing massive overheating. Would it be possible to use the Koolance HD Waterblock on the HD, THEN surround the hard ...

I have never managed to get a clean sound out of the B1X undervolted, but it is still very good, and, in my opinion, better than the Papst fans. You might want to try the Vantec Stealth. I run the CPU one at 1600 RPM with a Zalman resistor, and it is quiet enough.

My records show starting Voltage as 5.7V, Minimum Volts is 5.4V, but I remember testing the other one and getting about .3 lower for each.

Re: Did you try...

Hello: Did you try the grommets with the shroud? Or, maybe small pieces of duct tape on the corners? The shroud is there to guide the air for more efficient airflow -- are you using the fan to pull air up through the HS or blow down through it? I knew it was supposed to guide the air, but it hasn't...

I was doing some more fan swapping today when I ended up having the CPU fan running alone. I heard a buzzing, but since all the fans and drives were off, it could only be the HSF.
