agreed !!!!!!!!!! Was wondering again last night why they had the lights so bright... Maybe if you get lost somewhere in your house, it's supposed to help the search and rescue team figure out where you are... maybe not... :? Or if there is a power outage in your house... oh wait, power outage = no ...

Hi, I have a half size 8600GT as well. I fitted it with a Zalman VNF100 fanless cooler. My case has decent airflow but no fan blowing directly on the cooler or anything like that. My idle temps are 50-55°C depending on room temperature (25°C approx an average) and the worse I ever got on a hot day...

Scythe quiet drive questions (5.25 version)
Hi, I'm thinking of getting a 5.25 inch scythe quiet drive enclosure for my HDD. Before I do, I have 2 questions : - Can you remove the rubber mounts on the side of the enclosure ? - if yes, how wide would that make the enclosure (in other words, how thick are the rubber mounts) ? Thank you for your...

Thank you for your replies. I finally went with the Mini. I chose it because I'm not quite sure exactly in which direction the airflow will be flowing : rear exhaust or PSU exhaust. It will depend on how loaded my computer is since the exhaust fan spins susually VERY slowly (PSU fan doing the exhaus...

Cut them out !!!!!!!! and if you feel sorry after you've done it, take the fan, make it blow towards you to feel the airflow. Then put the grill in front of if and you'll feel the difference immediatly !!!!!!! You'll really be surprised at the difference and you won't be sorry anymore !!! good luck !!

Ninja 2 vs Mini Ninja vs HR-01 Plus
Hi, I'm having trouble choosing between those 3 coolers.... I have an E7200 intel CPU and I would like to try going fanless. I have an exhaust 120mm mobo controled fan (would be approximatly 4 or 5 cm away from future cooler) and the PSU 120mm fan even closer (a couple of cm maybe). There is also a ...

summary from what I understand : on your motherboard provided the hardware supports fan control : - 3 wire fan on a 3 pin connector : control works - 3 wire fan on a 4 pin conenctor : control doesn't work (fan at full speed) UNLESS you can manually change the type of conenctor (from 4 to 3 pin) on t...

no point IMO.... And I'm also a big fan of the noctua fans so go for them. You'll never hear them (undervolted of course) !!!!!!! Unless you overclock something, you can just go with the parts right out of the box and you'll be just fine. Maybe include some thermal compound somewhere in your budget ...

:D I would say that any normal 3 wire fan will work (no reason why they shouldn't and since most fans are 3 wire fans.....). But I've never used a manual fan controler myself... random example from Zalman (according to the specs, it works with 3 connectors) : http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/Prod...

Hi, Just for clarification, what is the 46.9Hz frequency used for ? dhanson865 : you could but you first have to change the type of fan control in your motherboard (from 4 to 3 pin) if you can. If not, your fan will just run at full speed and you won't be able to control it with software. (from my o...

Hi,
from my experience you can control any 3/4 pins fans connected to your motherboard provided your motherboard lets you (so it does depend on your specs ).
I suggest you read this post for more info : viewtopic.php?t=46812

It doesn't come with a molex connector but I think I have one somewhere... I'm quite sure I won't hear the whine over the rest of the wind noise as long as it's mounted on the heatsink. When I get the other fan (should be by the end of the week), I'll take the Nexus off the heatsink and test it in f...

Hi, I'm really thinking of getting a mini ninja too now !!! My only worry is that the stock top down cooler of the CPU helps cool the northbridge on the asus (I have the P5N-E SLI) and if I go fanless, I'll heat even more... (like you said, it does run hot !!) I have a fan in the front bay of my SOL...

I assume 2 of your nexus fans are in the front door right in front of the HDDs ? I think if you run them at 9V they'll still be quiet and yet get you good airflow. On my case I also cut out the metal front door grills (where the 2 fans are). It makes a BIG difference in airflow and you can't see it ...

yep, I did try. I got a Nexus 92mm PWM fan. Airflow is good and I don't mind the looks. It is plugged into the 4 pin CPU fan connector on my motherboard. HOWEVER.... this thing has a really really (and I mean really) annoying whine. I don't know if this is due to the PWM or not but this fan is now t...

you really need an exhaust case fan. 120mm is the best and quiettest option (my personnal favorites are Noctua fans but they're not really what you'd call budget fans :? ). I second the passive video card suggestion. Don't forget that a video card will help your CPU run videos and therefore keep it ...

Posting my own extra comment : I just replaced the big stock northbridge cooler with the noctua chipset cooler (NC-U6). I don't quite know what temperature sensor I'm supposed to be looking at but I like the fact that it stands higher on the motherboard and it's now right in the middle of my airflow...

me again... the Nexus is not what you would call noisy... it's just that it has that annoying whine to it... One of my friends just got an Arctic Cooling 92 mm PWM fan... I'll check it out and post the results here. If it doesn't have that whine (that I suspect is caused by th PWM), I'll get it as a...

Hi, I just got a Nexus 92mm PWM fan and I'm not very happy with it. It has that very annoying whine to it no matter how fast or slow you run it. I goes away away only when the airflow noise gets higher. I'm actually looking for a 92mm PWM fan to replace it. Let us know if you find a good quiet PWM f...

it's an OMG kind of a system.... goodness :-) From my own experience with a SOLO, I woudn't recommend it for your setup (although I LOVE the case). The space between your CPU heatsinks and the bottom of the PSU is going to be VERY small... and I mean VERY VERY small. You'll probably barely get away ...

P5N-E SLI motherboard cooling
Hi everybody, my first post here :-) Been reading you guys (and girls) for quite some time and thank's to your posts I've just built my first "quiet PC". I have the asus P5N-E SLI motherboard (very nice btw) and a friend gave me a E7200 Intel CPU with a samurai-z cooler to go with it. I like the fac...
