Thanks guys. I went looking through the MS KnowledgeBase for ideas, and stumbled upon an article titled: " How to reclaim disk space on a Windows XP-based computer that has a hard disk capacity of 4 GB or less " http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956324/ It is exactly what I wanted. I ended up moving t...

Also, the OS disk space size is still doubled AFTER I deleted all the $ntuninstall ...$' directories. There is a 567 MB directory named \WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\ Am I safe to delete that directory? Installing XP SP3 bulged OS from 2.9 GB to 4.4 GB on my SSD?
I have a 0 dB, fanless system that uses a lone SSD for everything. I just upgraded the SSD in it. After imaging from my original system, I decided I'd run Windows Update and Install SP3 for XP, and all the latest security updates. To my shock, the Windows directory bulged from 2.9 GB to 4.4 GB, a 50...

I'd say Intel has advantage in cooler running. E6300 is wonderful CPU. But Intel inteds to win in syntehtic benchmarks and take beating in game tests. Besides E6300 should have VT support unlike E7x00 series or E5x00 if I remember correctly. E5x00 are completely beaten in most game tests by X2 2xx ...

Hi Mike:
I have some people interested as well, so if you know of something in the works, please let me know.
I think they are looking for something in the 9300 IGP, C2D performance range, effectively silent around 15dB.
Thanks a lot,
Ian

Total power?
Thanks JamieG. That system from kieran45 is almost identical to what I was thinking of viewtopic.php?t=53685. I would just add a 30 GB Vertex SSD to it. Any idea of there would be room for the SSD, and power to spare?
Thanks,
Ian

I am somewhat familiar with the 'standard' SPCR recommended system when using larger cases, but I am not really sure what the consensus mini-iTX recommendations are? I've been using my PC 6-10 hours a day for 16 months, and haven't noticed any problems. Maybe I'm not doing anything complex enough. I've read many threads here on stuttering, but I'm still not sure how it manifests itself to the end-user?

Yes, street prices are around $100 - the prices on the Transcend site are $149 list. I guess my model from 16 months ago only had IDE? Anitec Stealth
I second the suggestion of going down to an e5200. The two processors will be indistinguishable for music tasks, and the e5200 is just 2/3 the cost here in Canada. I would also note that Anitech uses some AcoustiPack damping - specifically, if you look at the pictures - http://www.silentpcreview.com...

Cases that can be cooled with PS fan alone?
The SPCR-certified, Anitec Stealth (bases on an Asus T3 case) was recently reviewed here - http://www.silentpcreview.com/Anitec_SilenT3_PC . From a design standpoint, it is interesting in that there is no case fan - instead, it uses the standard Enermax PS fan to exhaust warm air from the case. I wa...

Re: Thermal design ....
The heat from the CPU is pushed out via the PSU, which hardly ever ramps up as the amount of heat through it never exceeds 80~90W. The VGA card's heat moves out the holes on the back of the case via convection. ... This sounds like a great design for silent computing. Does the Asus T3 have somethin...

G31 + e5200 + GPU
I got a Biostar G31 board with an e5200 from NCIX in Vancouver for $150 just 3 weeks ago. If you add a $45 9400GT board to that you are only coming in about $25 more than your original mb and CPU, with more power. Mike: Could you comment on the case/design thermals? How do they manage to vent hot air out of there, when the only fan blowing out appears to be pointing downwards over the power supply?
