I have AMD 64 3000 Abit AV8 Mobo 2gb Ram 1 HDD 2 DVD drives 1 lowish end graphics card adsl pci modem and normal 56k pci modem. My PC is on for long periods. If I stop the fan in my current power supply then it becomes totally silent so any fan will have to be VERY silent! My 2 options are 1) Fanles...

Question is now - do I

1) use the S12 as the only fan source in the PC

2) Buy a fanless PSU and run a Nexus at very low RPM (the Nexus is pretty much silent at 500rpm)

Hit me with it - what is the quietest PSU (Seasonic S12?)

I have some money to spend and I need the quietest PSU going (fanned one I guess as I have almost no airflow in my case) I hear good things about the Season S12 and I am just ready to buy it - check there - (i know its currently out of stock) i am going for the 430w http://www.overclockers.co.uk/aca...

Controlling fan speed of a PSU (Smartpower 2.0)

Is this do able without any 3rd party stuff, if not is there anything I can add to the PSU that will allow me to slow down the insternal fan slightly?

Is it possible to slow it down with a Zalman Fanmate - and if so - how far shall I take it down without getting dangerous?
As far as I ca ntell the rear exhaust fan never comes on...

I dont really fancy opening up the PSU tho!

when you say glue, what part of the zalman do you mean?

You glued the bottom plastic part of the Nexus to the metal holder of the Zalman?

Or did you use a part of the iriginal zalman fan which you then glued the nexus onto?

finally, did you need to 'raise' the nexus?

cheers

Nexus 120mm onto Zalman 7700AlCu

How are you guys doing this? I haven't have a closer look yet, but I can see after I take the Nexus off its square frame that there will be very little left. The 4 spokes are very thin (should i do away with those as well) and the actual circle bith with the motor is what to small to drill into and ...

Antec Smartpower 2 - has anyone replaced both fans yet?

Surley if you replace them both with silent fans the PSU itself becomes silent right? :D Is it a case of finding suitable replacements and just changing them or is it more complex? I read that the Smartpower uses 80mm by 20mm fans rather than the more common 80 x 25mm - can you just stick a 25mm in ...

I thought the only nosie in my HDD was the seek noise - I took by PC apart today and was surprised to find that noise (that I assumed was fan noise) was actually coming from the HDD. I am very doubful that suspension will get rid of this noise and that an enclosure is the way forward. How have peopl...

I had the HDD covered in foam but I wasn't satisfied with the temp 45degrees and the noise reduction wasn;t great - i need total silence!

Will suspension lower the skee noise at all (compared to foam) or do i need an enclosure??

OK, I screwed in a piece of L shaped aluminium on each side of the HDD (one piece each side) I then took a block of foam and totally surround the drive, then i just put it all on the floor of my case (I hope this is safe!) With the PC on for about 20minutes Dtemp is reporting 30degrees - which is mo...

Hi I am going to suspend my HDD tomorrow - one way or the other I reckon... I have decided to suspend but with heatsinks either side of the HDD - hopefully this will keep it cool enough... according to DTEMP my current temp is 23degrees - is this an accurate measure of the temp? not sure what the source is..

Zalman or Antec Smartpower 2?

I already own the Zalman 400W PSU and the Antec came with my Sonata 2 case. Looking at the SPR recommendations the Zalman only got a 3 for noise level and the Antec got a 6 (out of 10)! http://www.silentpcreview.com/article28-page6.html So I take it that the Smartpower is much quieter? Or does anyon...

Hi Just installed this on my PC and I am very dissapointed with the result (Athlon 64 3000) - We attached 2 fanmates, lowered the RPM to like 650 - 720 and I can still hear noise - its the only thing in my PC making any noise now. Rather, than wasting £30+ on another solution I have read that peopel...
