I've run a 130nm Athlon 64 2800+ off 0.85V At stock clock speed? That's pretty impressive. Did that allow you to cool it passively? No. not at stock clock speed. I am sure it was pretty slow. As far as cooling requirements: It doesn't exatly work that way in my experience. Lower cpu core voltage ge...

I would say that an 90nm Athlon 64 3000+ undervolted to 1.1v (I think that's the lowest allowable voltage) may do the trick. At stock voltage it consumes 39.9w according to this Xbitlabs article under load. Not sure how CNQ would react to an undervolted CPU since I haven't upgrade from my Socket A ...

Re: Undervolting Biostar Tforce?

I'm looking into building a HTPC using either a Turion or an undervolted Sempron 64, and the Biostar Tforce Socket 754 board is the best choice I can find for the general features I want. I've read elsewhere that it won't work with the Turion, but does anyone have experience running it with a Sempr...

Just be aware that Turion64 may not work very well with anything other than the DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb. Comversly, It is more likely that any nForce3 boards will have issues with these chips than nForce4 and newer boards. And, if I wanted to splurge so much on a socket 754 cpu, I'd go whole hog ...

To anybody wanting to use a mobile Socket 754 processor, I'd recommend the DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250Gb board. I used Turion64, Newark, and Oakville (90nm "Winchester" core) on it, all worked flawlessly. Probably the best board for mobile S754s out there. Why? It is seriously outdated. The Nforce4 and...

Valuable insights regarding the In-Win Z-series cases. :) I'd like to know whether the Scythe Ninja will fit in the Coolermaster Centurion RC-541 / RC-540 though. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't fit. I knew the In Win Z series might have an issue when I ordered it. I seriously considered th...

Why not just time how long the fan can fill up a large inelastic bag? I think someone mentioned mylar, but a normal plastic bag should be accurate enough. If you figure out the volume of the filled bag it you could even get a real cfm number. Um, this might sound like a dumb question but how can th...

Thanks for all the comments. CFM I am starting to realize that it will be very difficult to measure the exact CFM. There is a standard for measuring CFM but the test setup required is beyond my reach. It is called the AMCA Standard 210 . CFM: Why not just time how long the fan can fill up a large i...

Just dont plug it in the 4 remaining pin holes, that remain in the 24pin slot after the 20pin cable :). You should dl and read the manual of the motherboard to make sure, if you truly need it connected. But IIRC when first incompability issues with Asus and NEO HE were first discovered I think the ...

Re: Here is a GPU cooling idea!

Any comments? I think the best GPU cooler is just a CPU cooler drilled and tapped to bolt onto a GPU. I have a chopped up retail P4 aluminum heatsink that works just fine as a passive GPU cooler. It does take up/require a few adjacent slots even with the fan removed. The price was right though (I t...

thanks.. also, if using a 20 pin psu does it need the 4pin p4 connector? .. or can it run with just 20pin psu? I would say yes. It will need the 4pin p4 connector. The new ATX spec is for motherboards with a 24pin main connection plus a 4pin connection. Original ATX was a 20pin connection. The TFor...

I've only run it off 24pin power supplies. This one (Antec Minuet II case) is only 220W, but it does have the 24pin connector.

I was under the impression that 300mhz was the limit in bios. At least it was according to the quick review in anandtech. Although that was for the s939 Biostart Tforce 6100 M9. I should have downloaded the manual and checked before making claims. CPU HT speed on the socket 754 TForce 6100 goes fro...

That's a great overclock. Yeah I like your sempron system, that's what I call budget gaming rig. Would be a better with 2x512 memory though. Gaming on IGP is pretty pointless anyway, but imo overclocking potential gives mobo much more value, especially to a one like this, which has good value to st...

Just wanted to say that this motherboard can not be beat for farmers... or "budget" minded people. My 165 is running 298x9(2.67GHz)@1.54v full-load 24/7. This motherboard has been a pleasure overclocking. The only "odd" thing is that the Vcore isn't labelled correctly in the latest BIOS. At the 1.7...
