Or they could just build a proper public transport system. Mass public transportation only really makes (economic) sense in areas with high population densities (eg most of Northern Europe, Singapore, HK, all of India  ). For countries like America (or Australia for that matter) which have sma...

California's tax on a gallon of gas is definately higher than most states in the US. So, the tax is there. True, but USA fuel taxes are so low compared to the rest of the world (well Europe, Oz, NZ, Singapore, etc). At it's basic level, the proposal is meant to reward people that buy low emission v...

Re: New Core 2 Duo - E6320 & E6420
They've been on sale for the last week in Oz. The E6420 has 4mb of cache compared to the 2mb of cache on the E6400. It has a higher multiplier than the e6300/e6320 which means you dont need to run a silly high FSB if you overclock to get good results. If you want real easy overclocking go with the E...

The CPU after Barcelona will also include separate power planes for each CPU core. But this will require socket AM3. Can you post a link for this? Everything I've read only suggests that it can clock individual cores independently, but that they're all on the same power lane, so they all get the sa...

yeah, some sort of ability to clock down one core vs the others. however, I read that intel will be doing that plus having variable voltage on each core. Still, it will help what AMD is doing as the real power usage comes from 2x speed of the core vs .3 volt difference at idle. From what I've read,...

You can file it by hand, however I just go to somewhere that cuts keys and ask them to take a couple of mm of the edge.MrSpok wrote:β)CA_Steve, so..i need a dremel tool for my problem..somewhere on the internet i saw this technique. thanks for your reply

I can't believe you people... When did 57c become a bad temp for a dual core processor running a burn software? I remind you, this is with passive cooler and his room temperature is 29c. For intel's 775 socket I agree with you. With the supplied mounting mechanism the Ninja performs about the same as the stock cooler (with the supplied fan at 12v). It also has the hassle that most motherboard have caps in the way so you need to take a couple of mm of the bracket. I have to disagree...

On 939 and AM2 the ninja shows a good temperature advantage, on 775 it just doesnt seem to have the mounting pressure. Where did you got this info from? I've read someone was complaining about the Ninja B AMD performance on this forum, but I've never seen anything conclusive on that topic. edit: fo...

pbecker, Your temp numbers are roughly the same as my E4300. The Ninja Rev B is shit at cooling. You'd have to do a mounting mod to give more pressure. Even then, it's still not up to par with other highend coolers. For intel's 775 socket I agree with you. With the supplied mounting mechanism the Ni...

Max I can reach with close to stock volts is 2.7ghz. I can hit 3ghz. But I need 1.5 volts, way too much for quiet system. Some can reach 3.2ghz @ 1.4ish but it's quite rare. I suspect all those reviewers got cherry picked cpu's. You have to be careful if you fold too. It can safely prime for 24hrs....

I have the DQ6 with the same heatpipe cooling as the DS4. According to some other posts and my measurements, the chipset runs 10-15C cooler than the one in Asus P5B, so I recommend the DS4. I should also mention that I'm running the DQ6 (which is in RMA at the moment). The temp difference between m...

1) Solid caps means the motherboard will last longer. But gigabyte uses decent caps anyway. 2) I dont think there is much difference between the 965 and 965 express chipset thermally. 3) DS4 adds a heatpipe linking it all. Its probably not worth it unless your in a high heat environment. I have to f...

Pretty interesting, I was wondering how much (or little seems more accurate) power the Wii uses. It's unfortunate the Wii doesn't support DVD playback. It'd definitely be much more efficient (and probably quieter) than using the 360 or PS3 for this task. I guess a standalone DVD player would work a...

By SPCR standards the Wii is not quiet, especially since its fan(s?) are all over the tiny leafblower variety, but compared to the 360, it's whisper-quiet. ...that's....weird. Given the ridiculously modest power consumption of the Wii (I was truly amazed: less than 20W is impressive), one would thi...
