Who is to keep the police, politicians, and judges straight? Who is to prevent those from committing crimes when no one is looking, or from striving to take power for their own desires at the expense of others? Who is to encourage those who historically voluntarily help society to continue doing so...

There is no logical defense of morality outside of religion, only fuzzy sentiments. Religious people a), think they are better and their morals and beliefs are better, b), they try to impose their religion on people who are not interested. Of course. If one believes in truth, it's, well, the truth....

Nice review. QuietMouse is far superior to the mouse sold by Dot,Com Enterprises . QuietMouse's click is more responsive and quieter, 2 of the 3 of the mice have quieter scrolling wheels, and the mouse optics are far better. I've not used any other quiet mice though - I can't compare QuietMouse to T...

I also would like to add that legitimate religions tend to happily share their sacred texts because they want their message spread. Threads that lead to fights are my chief concern BF. I don't like personal attacks, and fights that lead to members quitting, members who would otherwise contribute to true purpose of the site, which is pursuit of quiet, and somewhat enviro-friendly, computing. --- Oh, and no one is really mean or a...

What I meant is: most don't seem to mind black racism, so it's unfair to jump on me without jumping on black racists equally. And while we're on the subject of racism, what about La Raza and its student organisation MeCHa? --- I don't care if you think it's childish or what. I was raised a Southerne...

mexell, my point is that blacks are significantly different from whites. there must be some set of values to make judgements from. Is a rock similar to a plant? Well relative to what? Chimpanzees are also very very similar to humans  It's all relative. To take pleasure at another's expense is a lowly trait, reminiscent of McCain's bullying tactic he used at the recent NH debate, mostly against the slightly less insane Romney. Hello, What about the New Year? What about Hanukkah? (Which was earlier this year, I realize.) The date was a guess based on an assumption -- so it was picked out of a hat, essentially. I didn't mean anything as a heated comment :) And qviri's was meant in jest only. Nah, early Christians were celebrating Christmas as far back as we know. I think it has to do with the conception not birth of Jesus.

The Christmas tree might be a pagan adaptation but not Christmas itself. Christmas is Christian.

You're correct: that's the Achilles's heel of that brewer.

For me it works well, but I see now how you'd prefer a tea pot and tea ball.

I don't use a thermometer, though yea I don't usually add boiling water directly. I'm not sure if it changes the taste, but it's what folks recommend :P
