No. The only way to get these "fantasy perfect" cases out to consumers is by criticising the existing flawed designs. SPCR's credibility weakens when they praise the Antec SOLO without pointing out the obvious errors. Dude, I think the P180 and P150s are overrated myself, but you're making a big st...

It's just a Zalman clone, so it should be fine. You might want to consider having an undervolted 80 or 92mm fan blowing on it just in case, though. I don't know how hot a 9700 pro vs. a 9800 pro, but if the heat is comparable, DEFINTETLY use a fan on it.

While optimizing, blah blah I found that leaving the top fan turned on, at ANY setting, is the biggest flaw of the case. Detach the fan, and then see how it goes.

Tried some... it's too hard compared to soft foam like egg-crate stuff. I still got some vibrational transfer. Just go to a craft store. You can get softfoam for about $3.

Re: Case fans & processor silencing

- I also had a look at Nexus Damp Tek case insulation. The small amount of reviews I found online seem to suggest this stuff can make a lot of difference to noise inside the case. Since my processor is Socket A, choices for decent silent coolers seems to be limited. The CNPS7000B-ALCU Super Flower ...

I used Google Adsense for a while which was very easy and classier looking than banner ads. phBB is the standard forum software (I think), and it is freeware, along with many things you might want. Do you know HTML, perl, or PHP? I don't know any html, though I have a book on it in storage, and the...

Really really minor update: added links to places where you can buy the incredibly rare blue led Yate Loon and the NMT thermal-based fan controller (as well as an Evercool analog), and links to the recent fan design article and fan roundups. Just FYI, for peope looking for the NMT and YL in America.

With a bigger case, you can put the hard drives, and possibly the optical drives, farther away from the CPU/heatsink and PSU, keeping them from getting heated up from those components. Also, it MAY help the PSU keep from ramping up if it's further away from the CPU than in a smaller case. But that's...

@MikeC: I suggest that SPCR should also test the fans (maybe just the best ones) when mounted on a HS or on a case - not everyone is going to cut the case grill(s). There are many many different grill designs out there, from extremely restrictive to mesh, so they'd have to test them all. Open air r...

If you're talking about the hard drives in the top compartment you can, if you're talking about the bottom compartment (PSU chamber), you can't. They get cooled by the fan in the middle, between the hard drives and the PSU.

Heat doesn't get dispended by the enclosure, only by the air that's blown out of the case. It doesn't matter what material it is made of! SORRY... Metal plays a major role dissipating heat.... What's funny is that I see stuff like this asked a lot on a couple of other forums. It's always X PSU is rated for 500w/600w/700w/750w/800w - will it be able to handle the next generation of cards? Sheesh, at that rate you might as well just get one of the 1000/1100w PSUs and call it a day, though I...
