X-650 and X-750 aren't exactly new either. They've been available for nearly a year, although for some reason it doesn't feel like they've been out that long.

Bump for updates. Changed out some fans and finally got my hands on a pre-modded top panel with 140mm fan mount. Helps quite a bit with temps on the video card. :)

If you're careful about the components, you can run a surprising amount off a PicoPSU. This member, for example, had an Athlon II X4 and 5750 running off a 150w PicoPSU.

There was a fair amount of buzz IIRC back when the Zotac IONITX boards were released. Das_Saunamies is probably right, there's just not anything really new/exciting to talk about with these boards currently. Search the forums, though, you should find plenty of topics on these boards and systems buil...

First thing I would do is hook up a Kill-A-Watt or something similar, try tweaking the voltages, and see if any have a measurable effect on power consumption or temps in Windows. My old Gigabyte 785G board didn't have nearly as many voltage tweaking options as the 785GM-E65, but I think I messed aro...

MSI has been putting out some really nice products lately, I'd definitely consider them to be up there with ASUS and Gigabyte in terms of features and quality. Hmmm... I dunno how late it is lately, but I have two MSI board right now, both IGP (GeForce 9300 and 785G) and not so old: BIOS always car...

First Abit, now DFI :( Not that Asus or GB boards are bad, not at all. It's just that to buy a different-than-others board with better-than-average features, you now have smaller choice... Tight fit. I was looking at the NSK-3480 and Seasonic X series recently. Ended up going with a different case in part because I wasn't sure a standard optical drive would fit. Had considered just using a mobile optical drive and adapter if a standard 5.25" drive didn't fit, but it would have cost qu...

Kind of disappointing, but not completely unexpected. I wonder if the reason for the new socket is tri or quad channel DDR3 support. Would be a nice feature, but sucks that it breaks backward compatibility for AM3 users.

Yeah that's the active phase switching indicator. I guess the CPU only uses a single power phase at idle, and then all four at load? Seems to be a feature common to a lot of MSI mobos, and I'd assume this is why the ones SPCR has tested tend to be pretty power efficient, especially at idle. Power co...

Another PC-A05NB system

My old NSK-3300 and Seasonic 300w SFX were getting a bit long in the tooth, so I decided to get a new case/PSU (wanted to go ATX this time around) and upgrade a few other parts. http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/1994/img2129m.th.jpg http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/2848/guts0.th.jpg http://img153...

Great review, and another excellent product from Seasonic. Kind of OT, but Mike, would you happen to know if Seasonic has any plans to release an 80Plus Gold SFX power supply in the near future? The BIOS fan control on this board is actually pretty lacking. You can have it automatically control the CPU and/or system fan, but the CPU fan ramps up way more aggressively than is necessary IMO. And unfortunately Gigabyte doesn't provide different profiles to choose from for the CPU fan speed con...

Some good looking stuff (better paint job) and some kind of meh stuff (higher speed/louder fans being included with the case). Still looks great if they can keep it at the ~$100 price point, though. Also, they need to find a US distributor already, I'm sure there's a ton of demand here for their cas...
