Re: AC Accelero Mono Plus

How could it be faulty?

I flashed it to10%, which was silent. 20% (which is has set too now for some unclear reason) is too loud, 40 is horrible.

What power source is the cooler connected to? To the card or a spare 12 volt?

Re: AC Accelero Mono Plus

There's no way to read the RPM on mine unfortunately, I assume it's about 50% of whatever the maximum RPM is though, which would be 1000RPM. It's just plugged in to the card's 3-pin header. But how is the fan running? On a fixed speed? No matter how hard I search there is never a conclusive answer ...

Re: AC Accelero Mono Plus

Yes I realise that, because it's prefitted the 20% equals an rpm that is way too loud. My dad's gonna help me to do some soldering now.

Thanks for letting me know though.

edit: it's running at about 2000rpm now. How bout yours?
And how did you connect it? To the vidcard header?

Re: Thermalright Shaman on GTX570

Erm, notice a patern here? Certain fans dont like hanging horizontal. Ive tested a bunch of them a while ago. The ones that came out best were the BeQuiet SilentWings but they're not PWM and have a great mounthing system for casefan-purpose, but I doubt they fit on a Shaman.

Re: AC Accelero Mono Plus

I believe it would be a bad idea. Official specs say upto 200W, so 6950 / 560Ti is about the maximum reliable cooling capability. For a GTX 580, IMO you should get either the AC Xtreme Plus II, the TR Shaman or the AF Peter (DC Dracula). I have an AC Xtreme Plus II pre-fitted on a KFA2 Anarchy. The...

From what Ive googled the construction is pretty nice, but what i dont get is how the fans are controlled. From a standard header on the motherboard? But how do you power the two Wingboost fans, which are 4 pin PWM?

Re: Recommendations for quietest GTX 570 (or even 560 or 470

I have sparkle GTX 580. Sparkle and galaxy have same coolers. (artic cooling) However, both sparkle and galaxy fans are LOUDER than the ones sold directly FROM arctic cooling. (accelero extreme plus) To remedy this, I have replaced the fan that was on sparkle 580 WITH stock accelero extreme plus an...

Fanspeed troubles on 580GTX

I've recently purchased a KFA2 Anarchy 580GTX. Love the card, it's silent at idle and comfy at load. Or should I say, it was silent at idle.... For some reason the minimum fanspeed % is now 20%. It used to be 10% because I flashed the card's BIOS. That worked like a charm for a while, setting a nice...

Re: Adjust fan profile from BIOS on 6870 MSI/Saphire posible

I once had the brilliant Hawk. And it has a "silent" and "performance" switch. Allthough I did use Afterburner the switch might come in handy for you. you might not even have the flash it because of the silent-preset. Iirc the min/iddle fan setting in silent was 20%. And that will be way quieter tha...

Re: Upgrading fans from Antec Tri-Cool - what to get??

I would sincerely consider a bottom intake since that case has no side intake. How is your GPU running? What is it? What are all the PCI cards anyway? :)
Nice tidy rig btw! 8)

PS: shouldnt your cpu fan be on other side of the heatsink, positioned towards the exhaust?

I have a fractal 3000 (see my sig), wich is quite similar to the OP's case and I have the exact opposite experience. But maybe it varies with components etc.

Re: Help me work out the best fan situation in my PC

Dissipation > forced airflow. The goal fo airflow is removing heat out of the case. Dissipation does just that. And it is never so strong that it will screw up the airflow. Dissipation is the best thing there is: nature's airflow without any noise. The more you have it, the less your casefans have t...

Re: Help me work out the best fan situation in my PC

Intake needs to be as low as possible, exhaust as high as possible. The most important line is 2 -> 4, for lower GPU temp line 7 -> 5 is. Use low rpm fans if possible (or just downvolt them). Noiseblocker fans are really good, but so are Nexus and Noctua. I love the BeQuiet Silent Wings USC fans, as...

Of course you can. MSI's Afterburner wil do the trick. Biggest gain you will get from a bios flash to lower the fanprofile under the 40%.

Scythe Slip Stream 140mm, 800rpm Didnt start up at 7v :/ Next. Just wondering if you could give your impressions on it at 12V, i mean all the others are 1000rpm+, im guessing most go down to 600-800rpm at 7V, so give or take would be similar? It moves too much air at 12V. I briefly attached it to t...

Re: 140mm fan roundup (vertical mount)

Als, the TY 140 doesnt startup at 7v and at 12V it is way too noisy.

That's why I like the Silent Wings. Their low operating voltage is equeal to its startup voltage (3,5V). That is quite unique and very handy if you need it to run at a low static voltage.

Thanks for the feedback. I have TY-140 running on my cpu cooler and it's a great fan indeed. Actually, switch it around as a side intake. Argh, why hadnt I thought of that before? EDIT Slight turn up for the books... Even the Noctua, the quietest of the bunch annoyed me in the end with the slight buzz. Therefor I went back to the Noiseblocker. That thing moves so much air but it caused even more resonance in the case, and I think the backpressure (because of the better airfl...
