*SOLVED* weird Intel EIST and Windows 7 problem...

Reset BIOS to defaults, cleared CMOS, only enabled EIST (and not C1E) and it works :D ***************************** Well, this has me stumped for now. Picked up a system from someone on another board for pretty cheap, everything works pretty much flawlessly except for the Intel Speedstep stuff (note...

a mobo with 785G chipset has a pretty decent onboard graphics iirc It really depends on the games. If it's something like RTS they should be usable...but FPS are pretty much a no go on the 780G (the 785G isn't much better) though I think you can squeeze some more out with a Phenom versus the Athlon...

I'm about to go to bed, but I would say that Intel could be the way to go, even the best integrated graphics still just can't hold a candle to discrete solutions. Get something like a 5670 and you are set in the graphics department. Though video in could be an interesting problem to solve....but me ...

One thing XP Mode is supposed to let you do is integrate apps very nicely into Win7--you can get the programs on the Start Menu, open them, and it will open a window running the application, not even bothering with the virtual desktop. Just another window on your screen. I do believe Virtualbox has ...

I *think* that if it will let you install in compatibility mode, you should be able to do so from the cd. Try opening the CD and right clicking on the setup, at the very least give it a "run as administrator" try. But it probably wouldn't tale too long to copy the CD either. When you say it won't ev...

Driver issue. Surprising it boots actually. Make sure you have chipset specific drivers for it and see if it helps. Yes they generally need air flow--things get very hot in there.

Can you just undo the modification you made feeding it power so it goes back to default?
You could get it quieter putting in a slower-rated fan. The only trouble you may encounter then is if it starts reliably at lower voltages.

Match all that hardware with a 5400 rpm Green drive? At least step up to Blue level. Heck even the Black models go on sale often enough (well, over here they do anyway) that you could probably get one instead.

Otherwise it makes me whimper and wish I had something that fast.

Not sure about all Celeron's but that one was a Pentium Dual-Core (which was most likely named a C2D at some point). Dual-core, low power, 2.4GHz, they hit you on the cache but should still be more than enough. For sports games, maybe a mid-range card like Geforce 9600GT or Radeon 4670 might be good...
