Yeah it does...in fact (doh!) I put it on before doing the Windows install, so I don't know if perhaps the new one added a bug...danimal wrote:that sounds like a weird mb bug, it's not normal behavior for eist... check to see if the board has the latest bios.

*SOLVED* weird Intel EIST and Windows 7 problem...
Reset BIOS to defaults, cleared CMOS, only enabled EIST (and not C1E) and it works :D ***************************** Well, this has me stumped for now. Picked up a system from someone on another board for pretty cheap, everything works pretty much flawlessly except for the Intel Speedstep stuff (note...

If i use a dual monitor setup vga+dvi i can not clock down the memory with out flickering on the vga output. Anyone with the same problem? I seem to. I just added some stuff--first addition was a second monitor. This was using my 512MB Biostar 4670. It had clock and voltage changes in BIOS--when ad...

a mobo with 785G chipset has a pretty decent onboard graphics iirc It really depends on the games. If it's something like RTS they should be usable...but FPS are pretty much a no go on the 780G (the 785G isn't much better) though I think you can squeeze some more out with a Phenom versus the Athlon...

I'm about to go to bed, but I would say that Intel could be the way to go, even the best integrated graphics still just can't hold a candle to discrete solutions. Get something like a 5670 and you are set in the graphics department. Though video in could be an interesting problem to solve....but me ...

One thing XP Mode is supposed to let you do is integrate apps very nicely into Win7--you can get the programs on the Start Menu, open them, and it will open a window running the application, not even bothering with the virtual desktop. Just another window on your screen. I do believe Virtualbox has ...

The name. Enough said. The *not* network. AT&T again? Groan. "We want to make it affordable." But I'm sure the accessories are going to be getting you close to the $1000 mark anyway (and probably well over for the full featured models). Yeah, no Flash? I mean, I hate Flash as much as anyone else, bu...

You're in Canada and I'm not quite sure of what you want but look at the cheapo Rosewill cases Newegg carries--2 in particular have got my attention. One is the R901-P . Has 3 120mm fans, 9 5.25" bays (with an included converter for 3 3.5" drives. If you combined that with some of the 4 or 5-in-1 ad...

That's some serious horsepower. The 4x500GB drives, I take it you use those as work drives, not for storage of finished product? And the northbridge blowers, would it be possible to replace them with bigger standard NB coolers (they look like they are designed to fit into the conventional rackmount ...

I *think* that if it will let you install in compatibility mode, you should be able to do so from the cd. Try opening the CD and right clicking on the setup, at the very least give it a "run as administrator" try. But it probably wouldn't tale too long to copy the CD either. When you say it won't ev...

Driver issue. Surprising it boots actually. Make sure you have chipset specific drivers for it and see if it helps. I had an issue sort of similar with the AHCI mode on AMD chipset...which has been broke, is broke, and will probably continue to be broke. XP would 'hang' during the progress bar scree...

Yes, Sebrad's technique is pretty much what I do--I use some 99% IPA and give them a nice wipe, let them dry and then stick em on. If they are on the upward facing side they stick real good. If they are on the downward facing side buried under an Accelero S2 they will fall off no matter what  ...

OCZ Vendetta at Microcenter, $9.99 and FREE after MIR
Have to run up to Microcenter tomorrow anyway for a 775 backplate for my Ninja and was looking for an AM2 cooler. Found this: Good for Intel Socket 775, AMD Socket 754/939/940/AM2. Probably be pointed the wrong way on AMD boards. derr linken On sale for $9.99, also has a $10 MIR available. Nice find...

Or just let Cool N Quiet handle things, I generally don't even worry about the extra 0.005V of undervolt I might get. Plus you get full speed when needed. It's silly to pick out components specifically for power-saving and then ignore the potential of dynamic undervolting. But from your comments, i...

Not sure about all Celeron's but that one was a Pentium Dual-Core (which was most likely named a C2D at some point). Dual-core, low power, 2.4GHz, they hit you on the cache but should still be more than enough. For sports games, maybe a mid-range card like Geforce 9600GT or Radeon 4670 might be good...

My random thoughts: Looks like the Ninja Mini IS discontinued....but they are rolling out the Ninja Mini Rev. B. So no worries there. Gaming? Go for even the lowest discrete graphics possible. I've played around with the 780G onboard stuff and could use more. Depends on what kind of games of course-...

Hardware looks fine--my WHS is running on an AMD BE-2300 (1.9GHz, 45W dual core), the Biostar A760G M2+, 1GB DDR2, a WD Blue 640GB and 1TB WD Green. More than enough for anything I ever want to throw on it. As detailed in the thread about the Biostar motherboard on here, it has a few perks: less VRM...
