But I do believe the Noctua has a good sonic signature. I've had my fair share of Tricools and compared to the Noctua (I have the 1200RPM version at 800rpm), the Tricools clatter a hell lot more compared to the Noctua.

New low profile coolers from Zalman

Posted at VR Zone.

http://vr-zone.com/index.php?i=4823

Finally! A GOOD low profile cooler for AM2! I just hope its under 78mm.

The 8700 is basically the VF900 concept ported over to CPUs
and the 7500 is the VF700, if you may.

Looks like a winner for the NSK2400!

But I'm still lacking a good AM2 cooler for my <78mm height requirement, :(

I can't gain access to the multiplier settings because I do all my overclocking from within the BIOS. I don't know where they offer the setting for the mutli on the CPU, unfortunately, :(. In any case, I think I've got a buyer lined up for the GSkill sticks. If all goes well then this will be a shor...

Depends if you have any height restrictions?

If no height restrictions, spring for the Ninja.

If you do, Zalman is coming out with the CNPS7500 [and since you said X2 3800+, I assume that's the AM2 version] which fits on AM2.

Oh, I was the guy that did up to 340 on the Sempron, my results are on page 4. ;) Timings are as follows: DDR2-800 at 5-5-5-15 at 2T at 2.0V The main issue isn't when I try to push the clocks on the CPU, that's not even the thing, because its rock stable at 340 * 8 --> 2.72Ghz. I don't even know wha...

So I've come across a snag in my NF-M2.. Wondering if MC could help, since he overclocked much higher than I did, as it seems. Right now I have a set of GSkill 2GB NQ stuff.. however, there's a few problems. If I raise my FSB any higher than 266 using dividers OTHER than DDR2-800, it doesn't POST at...

You just plug in the 24pin connector as a while into the 20pin if you want to, or you can slip the extra four pins out. There's a few designs, but the most common ones are forward/backward slipping and sideways seperation. The ATX connector can only be fit in one way - just keep trying till it goes ...

Alright.. more results, since I strangely have SO much time to tweak with a fan when midterms are so damn close.. Oo. The fan doesn't do very well even with an INCH of space above it. Compared to how much air it blows with no restrictions.. Right now even with an inch of space above it, it feels the...

Actually spook, I've tried that design already. What I've found is that it cools worse than a fan in free air - I've tried it with my hard drive. If I just put my fan beside my hard drive, HDD will be around 40C. [mind you, SFF case, extremely low airflow] If the fan is ducted to suck in from the PC...

I just hacked up another fan, a GLobe B12025 12M this time. I have to say, I'm getting some VERY odd results. With a piece of tissue near the edges of the fan, I get the tissue being blown out like Bluefront''s. However, the weird part is this - as the tissue approaches the hub of the fan, the airfl...

Well, I think I should elaborate on the problems that I faced with mine when I built it. That's what I was wondering too - regardless of which quarter side I cut off, I can just rotate my orientation to fit my needs. To clarify - I felt airflow being spit off the side of the the fan, where your tiss...

Don't worry. The air is most definitely NOT 75C. At most it'll affect your PSU by a few degrees. I think you should actually look into acquiring a new heatsink. 75C is awfully warm..... I assume you're running on LGA775? Get the Scythe Ninja. if not, and you're running on S478, then I'd still get th...

So, I got around to cutting up a fan.. It doesn't work the reverse way, unfortunately. Its much more difficult to suck through the cut opening. I believe this is caused by the fact that the size of the intake is MUCH more reduced compared to Bluefront's design. His, utilizes the entire blade area to...

Yea.. I honestly can't see how the VF900 on your 1950Ultimate will be quieter than the Corsair 520HX. I'm running a HEAVILY overclocked Sempron from 1.6 to 2.7, a single 250GB HDD, one optical, two 120mm fans which can barely start at their voltage, on an NF-M2 with a 80mm fan at 700RPM. Well, I've sort of thought this over in my head and I finally know what you mean.

I'll be going out to get some thick poster board to hack up for this project. If everything works out I should have a new rear duct and a fan by the end of all this, =)
