Well, I don't know if there is something wrong with my revised unit, but it didn't fix the problem at all... now the rig won't even boot. I'm going to check if I can see any difference between the old one and the new one (apparently some cables may have different colors) and let you know. It's a sha...

Well, I can chip in as well. I got my replacement Neo HE 430W yesterday, and plugged it in the first thing I did after work. With this new sample, the fans just start spinning, and then the computer shuts down. Some protective measure kicking in without a doubt. With the old one, I can at least get ...

The A8N-SLI Premium is the only Asus SLI board (except for the SLI32) that has stock passive cooling. The others all have annoying little chipset fans which you will need to replace (and thus void warranty). The Ninja shouldn't interfere with your graphics card, at least it doesn't in my case, but o...

Opterons utilize 1Mb L2 cache, unlike Venice-base procs. They also have an aditional HTT link available for greater memory throughput, advantageous for any program that utilizes it (admitedly not mainstream stuff ATM). Hmm, but the comparison was with 4400+/4800+ (Toledo), which has 2x1MB cache. Al...

Well, the GTX is apparently more quiet than the GT because of the fan controller on the GT which can behave a bit weird (running at full speed all the time and so on).

The only Asus GTX that uses an AC silencer is the TOP version (which is alot more expensive than the regular GTX).

You usually get a 2x USB header bracket with the motherboard, try to connect that one to the motherboard instead of the P180s ports. If that works, something is fishy with the P180.

On the other hand, I've had boards where the extra headers on the MB did not work as they should...

Powers on consistently, but powers down after 30 seconds even if just idling in the BIOS.

hravn - thanks. I have decided to go for a 4400 x2. How will the Scythe Ninja cope with this? I don't know about this cooler. Shouldn't be any problems, the x2 4400+ has the same stock voltage as the x2 3800+, 1.35V, which is no problem for a Ninja (even passively). I'm running my 3800+ slightly ov...

You are taking a pretty big risk if you buy that combo. There is loads of problems with the incompability between the A8N-SLI boards and the Neo HE PSUs. My X2 3800+ @ 2.4GHz / 1.4V with two 120mm Nexus has a load temp of 52C in a P150. At stock voltage (1.35V) load temp is something like 47C. My chip is a pretty bad overclocker, so another X2 3800+ could probably get to at least 2.3Ghz on stock voltage without any problems.

As per the P180 page at Antec:
Antec recommends choosing from our SP-500 power supply or Phantom, Neo/NeoHE or TruePower 2.0 series.
The NeoHE is actually a Seasonic, and the problems with it is an incompability (in some cases, like mine ;) ) with Asus motherboards.

Well, if passive (w/ case fans) doesn't work, just put another 120mm nexus or similar on the ninja blowing towards the exhaust fan. Still better than a zalman blowing down.
