I'm running it and it's cooling my opteron really well. I liked that it was available locally so if I had problems I could return it. I can't hear it at 7v fan speed....but my other components are quiet not silent. It doesn't seem to have any annoying ticking or anything if that helps.

Gigabyte lower power 7800GT

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2597&p=3

this looks like a good card that has potential for passive cooling.....some people are already cooling their regular 7800GTs passively.

I also like the looks of that Asus motherboard below it.

I have thought about this too because I would like to take advantage of the speed of desktop HDDs I was wondering if you could simply use two copper pipes on each side of the hard drive, and then attach clamps that go around the pipes and screw into the side of the HDD. These clamps would simply be ...

great review!

I love the removable cables and integrated suspension. Sure DIY suspension is o.k. but how often do you see a clean DIY suspension that can take THREE drives and keep them cool with intake air?

i disagree that you will need 4 gigs in a year. unless you are using it as a workstation for engineering etc. games are the only thing that push a system like this. it is pointless to get four gigs of RAM unless you have one serious video card. vid cards and games aren't going to change THAT much in...

8) So anyway I am considering the Asrock board. There are a both positives and negatives to it in my mind. It is cheap, and it has an AGP slot, and it seems pretty close to nForce in performance. However, it doesn't have the best overclocking options.....and I get the sense that the people doing the...

I truly doubt but i may be wrong.... that xbits is testing the actual card's draw on the psu and not just the accumulated wattage draw at the plug. I am doubting highly that they rewired their systems to isolate video card draw. And so, this would greatly effect total psu draw. --------- Just think...

I love games like HL2, Battlefield 2 etc.

I hope they continue to advance graphics cards at a fast pace. If I have to watercool them to get jaw dropping graphics.....so be it :)

7800GT seems like an amazing card and can be cooled with a VF700.....so I don't think the current situation is that bad.

if Xbit labs is measuring the current of supply lines comming out of the power supply, the efficiency of the power supply doesn't matter. The efficiency is only taken in to account when you measure power draw from the wall....meaning your probe is before the power supply. power = voltage x current i...

Thanks for the info! Looks like a 7800GT for me. As far as performance the review at HardOCP showed that the 7800GT and X1800XL pretty much traded blows for performance and the ATI card has a couple of extra options for image quality. If they were the same price and heat I would grab the ATI. Looks ...

If you are certain that your reboot issues are related to video....you may want to try a registry cleaner like regestry mechanic etc.....have seen it clean up video driver problems in the past.
