what is the nvidia epp program? Like lots of things there is a standard for Ram specs. Nvidia has extended that standard a little bit and called it EPP. If you buy a motherboard and ram thats compatible, then the ram will automatically start at slightly faster settings, without any manual overclock...

Well that's terribly confusing, lol. If I went with the SS-500HT, which has the two pciE power cables, are those cables setup one on each 12v rail? Or are they both coming from the same rail, which could lead to drawing more amps than a single rail can handle and shutdown the system? I would assume ...

He's asked the same question I'm asking. If I intend to run SLI, do I need the SS-500HT since it comes with 2 pciE connectors? Or is there a simple way to setup say the S12-430, which only comes with a single pciE connector for SLI? Please keep in mind this would be my first build, and I won't be do...

Ok, so I've updated to include a new psu/case. Mostly this is because of concerns around the Neo430. I also discovered that if I ever intend to run this comp in SLI mode, I need the dual pciE power connectors. Lots of PSU's don't have them. So while I don't need the extra 70W, I went with the highly...

Just another new system (help with motherboard mostly)
Just to clear something up before we get to far. I generally don't overclock or mod my computers, so I'm looking for out-of-box solutions, as opposed to "this would work if you took your computer apart and put it back together again with duct tape", hehe. Also, my main computer use (besides web brow...

Interesting points. I guess to be more candid, I really, really, really like the idea of purchasing an E6600 with a Nvidia 590 sli mobo. However, that's pretty expensive. The E6600 is $440 Canadian (taxes and such included) and I'm sure the mobo will be a lot too. So I'm kind of thinking that maybe ...

Upgradeability of am2 vs core2duo
We already know that if we buy an AM2 board today, that we'll be able to stick am3 chips into them (more or less). That makes for an easy upgrade option in the future. How upgradeable are the new core 2 duo mobo's going to be? In other words, you could get am2 in the short-term and lose some perform...

Yah, I guess if you figure feature processors at least will be using less power, and feature gpu's are about the same or a little more I'd be fine with the 300w. Plus you'd have to figure that SFX psu's will slowly become more powerful too. Also, unlike the xq-pack, the microfly has a 400w psu made ...

Hmmm, the cooler master 540/541 seems to be hard to find. When I can see a website with them they are listed as completely out of stock. I don't think I can get the NSK3300 though. If in a couple years I decide to upgrade with a video card, I'm not sure if the 300w PSU will cover it? And replacing t...

Hmmmm, well, now I'm not as sure. I love the NSK3300 but I don't like the fact it comes with the SFX PSU. I'd really like a normal ATX PSU. Those will be easier to find for less money if I ever need to replace them. I think my next choice is the coolermaster centurio 541. http://www.canadacomputers....

quiet microAtx Case/PSU recommendation? Ram as well
The system I'm building currently looks something like this: amd athlon64 x2 3800+ Asus M2NPV-VM microAtx mobo Western Digital 2500KS Pioneer DVR-111D I'm going to stick with integrated audio/video for now. The computer is being used for light multi-media and general use. That is, some image editing...

I don't know about known issues, but as another generic thing to check for.... Make sure, in addition to having the latest video card drivers, that you have the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard. In my case, it made the difference between HL2 crashing frequently, and pretty much never cras...

New model suggestions
I'd like to see a new model (maybe the P170?). Basically it would be a cross between the P180 and the Solo (P150 rev2). I find the P180 too big/bulky and the tri-layer exterior is perhaps a little overkill. So make the P170 a mid-tower, separated psu chamber, suspended hard-drives, Solo's fan filter...
