One major correction to the above So the one thing I am missing is that 1kw of energy generates 4kw of air conditioning load, if you are in a climate where you are running air conditioning you need to multiply the above numbers. Let's say you are running air conditioning for 6 months of the year yo...

Thanks. If you list the cables (or a kit of winmates + the cable), let me know. I'll order a kit. I'll figure out how to power my stuff (or what to power) later. :P I do not understand exactly what cable are you referring to. I have PSU + cables kit on eBay all the time is called Y2 and it includes...

I have noticed that there are some video card coolers that go on the top side of the video card and some that go on the bottom side. Seems like there should be room for one that open side in the Q07. Throwing in a Thermalright HR-03 has crossed my mind. Then I could put a fan where the PSU was supp...

" the Q9550 doesn't downshift when idle" I thought that the Q9550 down shifts from 2.83 GHz (8.5 x 333MHZ) and 1.25 volts to 2 GHZ (6 x 333 MHz) and 1.1 volts when at idle. Can anyone say if this is so, or not? I'm sure the Q9550 at idle is 2Ghz (6x333) I have the Q8400s and mine works when all set...

Thanks for the info. I might try and throw together a Lian-Li Q07 with a i7-860 and 5770. I'd probably want a tower cooler to keep things quiet, so I was looking at doing the two PSU option. I'm figuring even with two 2.5 drives on the bottom (1 SSD, 1 Hitachi 7200 RPM) there's enough width for a s...

Yes, it works with any card as it is based on RivaTuner's engine. I'm quite busy these days so won't be able to do the testing, but I'll be back with the results soon. Though I have an E8400 @ 3.6 GHz plus 900+ MHz memories, so the results may be quite different due to cpu. Thanks, I just do...

1. Let's assume 10 cents per kWh. You were going to have to pay those fixed costs no matter what (until you go to wind and sun - and even then you have to pay another form of fixed costs). 2. Saving 10 watts will produce a savings of 87600 watt hours if you calculate it at 10W x 24 hrs x 365 days (...

That is one option I am considering. A g31 chip set, probably running a downvolted Q8400. The downside is that everything is moving away from the 775 socket. All things equal, in the long term it is easier not to struggle against the direction of change. Even with the platform you are talking about...

Re: Need some help interpreting power consumption results
I just answered to your message.
Prime 95 for CPU + 3Dmark for video and copping a large file from DVD to HDD will give you the worst case power consumption.
I will also like to see the idle power it will also be important.

So the 4 pin to 4 pin cable on the left is supplying ground and 12 volts to both power supplies. So apparently immediately prior to this part of the circuit, the board must step down the incoming 24v power. The 4pin to 4 pin cable on the left are supplying GND and 20V in may case (can be 18 to 28V)...

Yes I was talking about connecting the 4 pin Molex from both PSU the molex conector contain the 12V and 5V. But I still need to connect the power on wire on the both PSU and for this I needed an ATX cable that also contains the 12V and 5V so it was not necessary. I do not understand why will you wa...

You definitely have to take a look at MSI Afterburner, much more flexible clocking and an excellent fanspeed configuration to boot. Will this work with cards from other manufacturer? That isn't the 4 pin I was talking about - I think. There is that other white 4 pin near the front of the card there the incoming DIN power plus is. The 4 pin white connector near the input 4 pin din is the same as the 4 pin din and is for input voltage and when I use 2 PSU I connect this two P4 wh...

I'm a software-guy, not a hardware-guy - which probably explains my naivety about some hardware-related issues. As I see it, it should just work! This is a strange video card I just purchased. I needed a cheap video card and this was on sale at newegg.ca if I get my 15$ mail in rebate it will end up at 32$ + 9.82$ shipping. Thank you all for your answers! electrodacus: ah, of course, you are absolutely right about the number of SATA connectors! If that is so, then could you get by with just connecting the two boards through that 4 wire plug? The extra connections on the 20 wire must add something, or you wouldn't be doing it. What do they add? I didn't know that winmate only has a 20 connector ATX plug. What do you do if you have a 24 con...

Re: Reasonable power?
Hello electrodacus et al.! I'm interested in getting a Winmate DD-24AX PSU for my new HTPC/File server combo. It's making a little more sense. But some more close ups at different angles would help. One thing that clearly didn't make sense is the 24 wire y-splitter. It looks like one of the plugs has a number of wires pulled out of it. Why did you do that? Why would that help anything? It seems counter-int...

Re: Asus Low radiation
electrodacus. With regards to the low radiation asus MB's, do you know if the M4N68T-M would suit your PSU?
