Sorry, to interrupr interesting discussion, but... Anyone have clue if for Europe (you know, the rest of the world use 230V, 50Hz and not 110V 60Hz like US...) is possible to buy something nice and precise as the Kill-A-Watt seems to be...? :?: :?: :?: I have one of these . Re: Power consumption, why has it got so out of control?
Youve intentionally missed the whole point of my post (why does my PC consume more power than it needs If feel a Athlon is too powerful for you needs you can always build a PC using a C3. and why cant I quickly work out what a new PC will cost to run) in order to flame and insult me, but thats your...

I run GAH on 3 PCs, with the batch setting enable you download 10 WU at a time and these are send to the server just like a normal WU ie same conditions as stated by M. WU(s) only get downloaded when a WU is finished or when you start fah. The reason these 3 PCs use GAH is they are on a dialup conne...

This seems to correlate pretty good with the other postings above. I was really surprised to see the big numbers from the Biostar M7NCG board. I think the only conclusion that can be reached is that power draw can vary a lot depending on the components used! That looks about right, one of my blades...

Well, if I were to expand on the "short" answer, I'd note that you've gotten a diskless workstation working, but you don't actually "use" it as a workstation. Your ultimate goal is to use it in a server farm, of course, which is as far removed from "workstation" as it gets. The idea of a diskless f...

So...the short answer so far is, no, no one here is using a diskless workstation? Well.... I installed K12LTSP on a P3 1.G, connect a diskless workstation to the P3 using crossover cable and booted using PXE. The workstation loaded X and give logo screen. I could logon and run programs on the serve...

IMO the simpliest way to explore diskless workstations in Linux is to install k12ltsp . It is basically Redhat Fedora Core 1 with LTSP 4.0 wrapped up into one distro. I have tried it but my goals are to turn it into a diskless folding farm. Whether such setup is suitable for you will depend on the a...

I got all the files copied and symbolic links created, but I am getting the error "GLIBC_2.3 not found" when I try to run 'ntpdate' on one of the blades. Am I screwed? I think I'm screwed. David I think thats is because ncurses is link to glibc. One of the problems of LTSP-3 is installing local app...

I have just got ntpdate running on my blades so here is the hack. 1) run ldd /usr/sbin/ntpdate on the server - this will tell you which libraries are linked to ntpdate, on my system it is, [root@hunnytree root]# ldd /usr/sbin/ntpdate libcap.so.1 => /lib/libcap.so.1 (0x40023000) libc.so.6 => /lib/i68...

I think I am going to have to download the tarball for NTP and compile it myself, but I'm not even sure I have all the tools I need when I am booted on one of the blades. Will I need to build it from one of the blades, or can I build it on the server for the LTSP distro that my blades run? You will...

ntpd.
I think LTSP 3.0 is based on redhat 7.X, if you can find a compiled version for that platform you may be able to just drop it in the /opt/ltsp tree.

How do I get that to work under Linux? Several people have tried to explain, but I always got very rapidly lost. If you can explain it in words of no more than one syllable I might have a chance! Re: Folding under Linux
a) ~/foldingathome/CPU1/FaH script to add -advmethods -forceSSE to the default flags (I have Athlons) You can add the extra parameters in a file called 'fah_config' located in the foldingathome directory. b) /etc/init.d/boot.local to add cd ~/foldingathome ./folding start There is now a installServ...
